Maclean Guest House

Room was large, very comfortable and clean. Check in and check out was very fast annd efficient. Our room faced the street and we could hear vehicles driving by during the night. Other rooms not facing the road might be quieter. No restaurants or food service on the property and it’s a bit of a walk to the restaurants.

Clean and comfortable and very neat and convenient. All the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Everything was fresh and super clean. The bath had great bath sheet towels.

Veldig greit sted å bo. Ikke mat på hotellet, men kort vei å gå til sentrum, hvor det er flere alternativer for både frokost og middag. Stort rom, og enkel parkering.

The guest house is in a great location, the rooms are spacious and well cared for. It is in a very busy road, so if you are a light sleeper it may be an issue for you, but they do have ear plugs available.

On a beaucoup apprécié notre séjour au Maclean guest house. La chambre et la salle de bain étaient grandes, la literie confortable, rien ne manquait. Rien à redire sur la propreté de l’endroit: c’était impeccable. Le personnel a été très accommodant. À une dizaine de minutes à pied de la gare de train et d’autobus, c’est fort pratique pour les voyageurs sans voiture.

The room was very large and clean. It’s within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We only stayed 1 night, but would definitely return.

Lovely guest house within an easy walk of the train station and town center. Comfy bed and large bathroom. Apparently it was purpose built as a guest house some years ago, not converted from another building, which explains the size of the bathrooms. No lift. Allowed me to store luggage between checkout and sleeper train departure in the evening.

Close to train station and main shopping street as well as restaurants

This was a very nice hotel in the heart of Stromness. Easy walk to shops and restaurants, and staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was clean with a comfortable bed. Parking is at the ferry parking lot within walking distance, free overnight with a fee during the day. We enjoyed our stay here.

The location is perfect for access to the train station (including the Jacobite train) and bus station, just a 7 minute walk. We had a nice view from our window. The room was very clean and we had everything we needed, including coffee and a press. Good quality tea as well with sugar and milk. The only thing which might be a problem for some is the traffic, which does quiet down about 10 and the sounds from other rooms around you. The activity above is easily heard. We were quite tired at the end of the day and it was not much of an issue for us. It is a lovely place to stay and close to everything.

Comfortable, clean room with new fixtures, everything perfect. Great shower. Quiet, very solid-seeming. Beautiful view over the town out to the water. No breakfast provided, but there is plenty of coffee and tea, plus a small fridge—we got breakfast stuff at Tesco the night before (5 minute walk) and it was grand. Highly recommended.

Clean, easy check in, rooms have fridge which was nice. Free close parking easy in and out.

It was a very nice room, very comfortable. Our room and the rest of property was extremely clean. There was a nice lounge downstairs. Brandy (owner???) was super helpful and friendly. Guest house within walking distance to train and bus station and to shops and restaurants in the town center. I'm only sorry we stayed one night.

First time in the UK and at a guest house! Lovely place, rooms were spotless, and the hostess was ver welcoming! Would highly recommend, and would easily go back to!
