Beautiful hotel. Excellent service. Would have loved to stay longer.

The property was dirty, rooms were not clean. When we arrive the power was out for almost 3 hrs. We had to step out.

Very, very, disappointing, to say the least!...i payed $950. usd. For 2 basic rooms, for 3 nights. Rooms were very dated, and smelled bad. Asked if we can get upgraded since the place looked empy and was told they didn't have the availability. Lol. Wish i could've gotten a refund but they wouldn't. I was gonna post some pictures, but realized i didn't even bother taking any pics!! Pools were not even worth getting in. I say avoid!

Like the view and all but no efforts to clean the beach

No pudimos hospedarnos en Alea, estuvimos en Nerea, cuyo personal tiene una atención maravillosa. Cada día la persona de limpieza dejaba la habitación impecable. Las instalaciones siempre estaban idóneas y limpias. La playa a pesar del sargazo era accesible por el muelle. También disfrutamos con el kayak y los chalecos salvavidas que tienen a disposición.

Despite previous good reviews, this hotel is sadly currently a scam. We arrived to check in Sunday July 13th to find it was closed «for refurbishment». We had booked months in advance and have been continuously reachable via phone/hotels.com. And yet Alea made no attempts to warn us in advance. Instead we were told nonchalantly on arrival that we had been «relocated» to a different hotel where the room we were offered and facilities turned out to be below the standard we had already paid Alea for in advance. We also felt unsafe as this was unlike anything we have experienced on travels in the past. We would not accept the relocation and instead wanted to move to a hotel of our own choice. They told us that this was understandable and that we could get a refund after emailing the manager at Alea, which we did before we left. He has not responded to that nor to other attempts to contact him since, and has not refunded our payment for a stay that was supposed to be 6 nights but never happened! Hotels.com say they are working on getting our money back from the hotel, but as I write this they have not succeeded. We do not understand why Alea is allowed to continue selling rooms that are in fact unavailable, but hope their listings will be taken down shortly to prevent even more customers from being disappointed.

I showed up in the property was closed for so-called “renovations for weeks“ and I was moved to a different hotel so I honestly can’t even give a review of the property cause I never even saw it. Except for one staff member on site I was barely communicated with at all about this situation. Don’t book with this hotel unless you wanna be scammed.

Beautiful, calm and peaceful place tucked away from busy Tulum city. It is our second time to visit this area because it is so beautiful there. Facility was beautiful but some updates might be needed immediately like broken hardwares and kitchen tools such as knife, pots, pans. Bed and service were excellent. We got almost everything we need immediately. You can have whatsapp chat with front office for any questions. The restaurant in the Alea was closed so we had to go to Mereva which is just few min walk for breakfast but it was not a big problem at all. Like most of shores, there are way too much seaweeds piled up so playing in the beach was almost impossible but they have lovely pools and they maintained it well. People consistantly removed seaweeds but it is impossible to remove which I did not know.

Outdated, Unfriendly Staff!!!

This place is AMAZING! We got moved to their sister hotel called Mereva and got upgraded rooms because something was under construction in Alea and it was so kind of them. They greeted us with a smile and took our luggage’s to our rooms, and we had ALOT of heavy big luggage’s. Jose Luis, Oscar, Felipe, Jose, and Luis were all so kind and we all loved having conversations with them each breakfast and dinner. They were the highlight of my stay here. They made all of our times there so memorable. They always knew my friend wanted a margarita when she came back to the hotel and they were always ready to greet us with 2 for sunset hour. They are bilingual and spoke English and Spanish to us. They have cleaning ladies and they made towel animals! They were so cute and impressive! The rooms are so spacious and beautiful. I love their aesthetic. There are pools in the room balconies and a big pool in the middle of the hotel. They are also close everything we went to. I could go on for hours about this place and how great it was. We are all so sad to leave and the crew became our friends. I will definitely be coming back.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Atea Tulum, and we can confidently say it was one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the hotel’s peaceful, boho-chic vibe. The natural design elements blended perfectly with the lush surroundings, creating a serene and welcoming environment. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay, and the service felt personal and genuine. Our room was spotless and offered the perfect blend of comfort and style. It had all the amenities we needed including a complimentary mini bar. We especially appreciated how close Atea is to both the beach it and our oceanfront room did not disappoint. The food was amazing and all the staff was very friendly and welcoming. If there’s one thing we could suggest, it might be to heat the pool to swim in the evening when the temperature drops. Also, the jacuzzi was not functioning properly. Overall, our stay at Atea Tulum was exceptional. We left feeling recharged and already thinking about our next visit. Thank you for creating such a special trip!

The staff is excellent. Shout out to Luis and Samantha at reception and all the wait staff at the restaurant. The beds and pillows and cleanliness are good. You need a rental car. This place is very peaceful.

Vi havde 3 overnatninger i et swim up værelse og er uden tvivl et besøg værd. Værelserne er super hyggelige. Toilettet er ikke særlig godt afskærmet fra værelset, men sengen er god! Betjeningen er generelt god og personalet er høflige og hjælpesomme. Priserne på maden kunne være billigere, men portionerne og kvaliteten er god, så det opvejede for priserne. Alkohol er alt for dyrt på hotellet og vi endte med aldrig at købe en flaske vin til vores mad af samme grund. Vær opmærksom på at stranden er ret mærket af meget tang, men dette synes at være et generelt “problem” i området. Alt i alt er det er et super hyggeligt og romantisk lille hotel, vi uden tvivl vil vende retur til. Det var det helt rigtige hotel for os at starte vores ferie i Mexico på.
