Peranakan Museum について

The Peranakan Museum explores the culture of Peranakan communities in Southeast Asia and possesses one of the finest and most comprehensive public collections of Peranakan objects. Its permanent galleries feature exceptional objects from Peranakan material culture, complemented by a contemporary exhibition design. This design incorporates expressions of Peranakan culture, by way of works of contemporary art, fashion, design and craft, created by local and regional artists, artisans and designers, and inserted into every gallery. The museum spans three floors, exploring Peranakan life through themes related to origins, home, and style as aspects of identity. Community interviews, recorded demonstrations, art commissions, and other contemporary expressions of Peranakan culture provide a multi-faceted experience for visitors, encouraging them to ask themselves: "what is Peranakan?".

The Family and Community Life Gallery explores the theme “Home”, showcasing Peranakan customs, foods, languages, and beliefs.

The Batik Gallery explores how the growing popularity of batik led to an increased demand for diverse designs and motifs.

The Jewellery Gallery features over 180 pieces, showcasing its evolution across life stages and occasions, influenced by changing fashions and hybrid styles.

Explore the Decorative Textiles Gallery to discover a range of textiles that represent Peranakan tradition and culture.

An immersive digital display in the Origins Gallery explores the history of the Peranakans and their communities.

The Fashion Gallery highlights the evolution of Peranakan fashion and its hybrid influences over the centuries.

The Ceramics and Food Culture Gallery offers a refreshing take on the ceramics used by Peranakans and their diverse food culture.
