Room was clean. Mattress needs to be replaced could feel the springs. Walls are thin. Could hear other guests above me coming and going. Place smelled musty. Receptionist helped me lug up a big suitcase up winding staircase. Getting down with suitcase to leave was interesting for any senior. Resort in general needs an update in my opinion. Just not my kind of rural vibe I guess. Grounds were ok. Did love the river out the window during a dinner.

Quaint. Rustic. Spacious. Wrought iron fixtures and reclaimed barnboard. Out of date keys that sometimes don’t work. No elevator. Be prepared to carry luggage up spiral stairs. You have to park across the road and walk through an under pass. Too low for trucks and vans . Close drive to Blyth theatre and Goderich.

Beautiful place for a nice getaway. Grounds are lovely, staff very helpful, and gorgeous spacious room. Will visit again!

Lovely spot. Would have loved to have a fridge in the room, and a breaker was tripper and cut all power to the room when hair dryer was turned on, but the staff was very accommodating. We didn't eat there as reservations are required even for breakfast and we weren’t sure of our plans/timing in the morning. But all that said, we would return.

Dated facilities however very clean. The pool was excellent and restaurant food was pretty good.

My husband and I have many wonderful memories of our stays at Benmiller Inn over the years. Several issues combined to make what should have been a relaxing overnight getaway a very frustrating experience. When we first entered our room, we discovered that the door was unlocked. Reception, simply said it "sometimes doesn't close properly." We found this response concerning, as guests should never have to worry about the security of their room. We had driven from Bayfield specifically to enjoy an overnight stay at the Inn. Upon arrival, however, we were informed that we would have no access to the dining room, the bar, or room service because of a private function. We should have been advised of this when making our reservation. Bathroom door made access to the toilet awkward, and the hinges squeeked. The most disruptive problem was at 2:00 a.m., the large spotlight/ceiling fan suddenly turned on by itself. We eventually found a remote control, turned the light off, but the fan switched on and to highest speed. The exact same thing happened again around 4:00 a.m., making for a very restless night. We hoped to enjoy breakfast before departing. Instead, we were told only the Father's Day brunch, beginning at 10:00 a.m., was available. We had plans for 9:00 a.m., so this was not an option. We should have been advised in advance. A letter was written to management describing these issues with no reply. So it obvious Benmiller does not care about guest’s experiences.

We had a lovely room in the Gildhall; it was spacious and clean. We would have liked a microwave and table as the room was listed as having a kitchenette. I’m not sure whether we were advised as to the separate location and the number of stairs. The grounds were lovely and the pool and spa were wonderful. Some the exteriors of the buildings looked like they needed spray washing to remove the cobwebs and clean the windows.

Been before never disappoints.

Front desk staff were awesome. The barmaid "Georgia" was very nice. The grounds were clean and the caretaker was very helpful. However, the restaurant hostess and morning server were "snooty". The shower curtain does not go to the floor and the fan in the room did not work. The grounds are beautiful and the site is close to stores and other restaurants all while being secluded.

Rooms are spotless Bathrooms all renovated and walk in shower Towels and bed linens are immaculate Food and service in restaurant is beyond excellent

I heard about Benmiller Inn over 25 years ago and had always wanted to stay there. Unfortunately, it seems I should have visited 25 years ago. This is no longer a luxury retreat and I found many of the glowing reviews quite misleading. Our stay got off to a poor start when the unenthusiastic front desk couldn't locate our reservation. The entrance to our building smelled strongly of chlorine from the pool and felt damp, with three dehumidifiers running in the hallway. We've stayed at many heritage inns and appreciate charm, character, and a few quirks. This, however, felt less like a historic inn and more like a tired fraternity house. The uninspired décor appeared untouched since the 1970s, the carpets were dated, and the window coverings looked like tablecloths clipped over the windows. The overall impression was neglected rather than charming. To the hotel's credit, the room was very clean. Despite the cleanliness, it lacked even the simplest amenities you'd expect at this price point. There wasn't even complimentary bottled water in the room. We also dined in the restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, the dining room itself reflected the same theme as the rest of the property—dark, somewhat neglected, and lacking the warmth that you would expect from a destination inn. Benmiller Inn is set in a beautiful location and has tremendous potential but is in desperate need of TLC and a talented Interior Designer

We stayed in the river front buildings. Our room had a balcony over looking the creek water falls as well as the Mailand River. The room was very clean and the bed and especially the pillows were very comfortable. A nice serene atmosphere there.

Room was very quaint but very limited on tv channels, wanted to use the spa but you have to make a reservation also you have to use stairs to get to your room and I had just had surgery and my husband had knee surgery other than that it was very nice.

We arrived on a hot day in June and our room was 81 degrees, according to the thermostat. We adjusted the temperature to 76 and left our room for the day. When we returned at 2:00 in the morning, the room was still 81. The fan on the air conditioner was whirring away, but the room was not being cooled. As it was late, we decided to simply open the balcony door and the window, which were both screened. Within minutes, our room was filled with every type of insect and bug. They were congregating on the night tables, the lamp shades, our phone screens. Bugs were flying in our noses and ears. We had no option but to call the front desk. The night attendant, Julius, was extremely apologetic, explaining that they'd had a power outage the night before and they thought all the air conditioners had been reset. Ours had not. Also, the pool was out of service during our stay because of the power outage. Julius quickly found us another room, albeit across the road from where we were, and he was most helpful in getting our belongings moved over. The downside was that the new room was up three flights of stairs, which was physically challenging for my companion and me. The new room was very satisfactory and we had no further disruptions for the duration of our stay. We really have to give kudos to Julius who saved the day and rescued us from a nightmare scenario. I just wish it hadn't been necessary in the first place. No one from management ever contacted us to follow up.
