BEAUTIFUL grounds and main hotel areas, super helpful and welcoming staff.
The room itself had basic amenities, and smelt like it was an ex- smokers room. May just be that the soft furnishings needed replacing. The room was dated and needed an upgrade. It would have been good to have a safe in the room too.
Everything else about the hotel was wonderful and it was a shame it was only a fleeting visit.
Slightly overpriced considering the room itself.

We chose Danesfield House for the night before our wedding, hoping for a relaxing and memorable stay. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed.
When we arrived, there was a birthday card in our room addressed to another guest, with their full name displayed. This seemed like an avoidable privacy oversight and wasn't the welcome we expected, especially as the hotel knew it was the night before our wedding.
The room also didn't match the impression given by the photos online, and the "large" bed was actually two single beds pushed together. The bath took a very long time to fill, and the water was only lukewarm.
On the morning of our wedding, we ordered breakfast to our room while I was getting ready. My poached eggs arrived undercooked with the whites still raw. The hotel replaced them promptly, but it added unnecessary stress to an already busy morning.
The biggest issue came at check-out. My hairstylist was told there was an outstanding breakfast charge, but I had to leave immediately for my wedding. Later, I received a voicemail asking me to pay. Since breakfast was included in our booking, I spent part of my wedding day worrying about what had gone wrong. My bridesmaid later discovered it was a £10 room service charge. Given the occasion, it would have been a thoughtful gesture to waive this fee or at least mention it in advance.
Overall, the stay lacked the attention to detail and customer care we had hoped for on such a special occasion.

Faded grandeur in need of major and expensive repairs & updates. The lift has been out of action for 6 years and so accessibility will be an issue for some guests and we had to climb to the 3rd floor- it was worth it for the fantastic river and garden views. The carpet was extremely thread bare across most of the room, with one area just a hole. The food is very good and staff are helpful, but when paying £320+ a night for deluxe room, I was expecting the rooms to be of a much higher standard. The history of this hotel is interesting.

Hotel was very nice. Unfortunately there was a pretty rowdy wedding happening there the night we stayed, with a lot of wedding guests banging in and out of rooms and playing music through the night. Not fault of hotel per se, but did rather dent the relaxing weekend break experience that hoped for.

Fantastic hotel! Staff very welcoming and nothing was too much bother.
We had an issue with our bathroom which needed maintenance so we had to switch rooms but staff dealt with it efficiently and couldn’t be any more apologetic. A bonus as the new room had air conditioning 😉

Hotel looks beautiful at first but tired on closer inspection. Our room was boiling hot with no aircon and a loud extractor fan close by which was super noisy. Bathroom wasn’t well maintained. Wasn’t really worth the money and no time to visit spa. Breakfast however was exceptional.

It could be a lovely hotel if the staff smiled and had a clue what was going on. There was a lovely and friendly lady on reception, and one of the waiter serving in the evening was friendly, as was one of the bar staff (Josh). Everyone else seemed a bit surprised to have guests, and the women working at the bar weee positively rude in their demeanour.
It could definitely do with an injection of cash to update it. The money all seems to have gone on an overly complicated lighting system in the bedroom!

First room we checked into was very dirty, the helpful staff changed our room to one that looked over the bins as there was very little available, i would not stay here again, the building is lovely and has a great history but the cleanliness and lack of food on the menu was poor, we ate here on the first night and the meal was ok, the second nights food was terrible, the staff did apologise in the morning but still took the £72.00 for fish and chips and a falafal salad, most other choices on the menu where not available.

The property is historic and the grounds are beautiful. The staff was not particular helpful or friendly. We reserved a superior room and were excited about our stay. Sadly when we got into our room we found the temperature to be around 95 degrees in the room and the only relief available from the hotel was a fan. We sweated the entire night with little to no sleep. The next day and after considerable discussion with the front desk we were able to convince them to give us a room with ac. (Keep in mind we had paid for a superior room). Sadly there were no apologies or empathy from the hotel management as to how uncomfortable we were—in fact, we were treated as an annoyance. Later, we decided to celebrate with dinner that night at the hotel— knowing we may finally get a good night sleep. We ordered our dinner on the hotel patio and sat outside with the other guests. As we were eating dinner, we could not get our server’s attention as he was busy pulling up and taking away all of the seat cushions and umbrellas while we were all eating. He even took the cushions at our table. There was a wedding party next to us and their cushions and umbrellas were also being removed at 8 pm with no consideration of how disruptive this was to everyone. These are just 2 examples of how poor the service is at the hotel—a place where customer service training is much needed.

There was no hot water on the rooms for our entire day. We advised the hotel the evening we arrived and again the morning we checked out.
The reception team advised they would raise it with maintenance, but no further updates were given. At check out the receptionist just apologies and explained that they would get it fixed for people staying later in the week! A basic amenity when staying at a hotel.

Had a lovely stay at the hotel. Staff were lovely, extremely clean and beautiful grounds. Had a wonderful chat with one of the groundsmen. Marlow is just a short drive away.
The reason I haven’t given an “excellent” was because the massage wasn’t as relaxing as I would expect. No calming spa music and very hot in the treatment room. You can also only use the spa until 11am in the day of check out, and whilst I understand they don’t want people there all day we didn’t need to leave until 12.
I would stay again if in the areas
