Beautiful quaint pub in a stunning village

Fabulous place, fantastic and friendly staff, huge thanks to Olivia Hellen for Saturday night, brilliant professional and very funny. Highly recommended, lovely clean room, breakfast and evening meals where exemplary, thanks to all Gav and Lynn

Polite staff and helpful

On arrival I found there was no onsite parking, despite the fact that it states there is on Expedia, so you need to find a space somewhere in the village, of which there were very few. Check in was ok, but I was not happy that breakfast was not available until 9:00am, I needed to leave at 7:30. I was offered a packed lunch in place of the breakfast, which I accepted, but on a cold winters morning, -4°c, a breakfast would have been better. The room was clean and very basic. The heating was pathetic, with the radiator getting barely warm, I actually had to sleep in my clothes it was that cold. There was an electric heater in the room, when I picked it up to move closer to the mains outlet one of the two plastic feet fell off. The screws for the foot were missing and the heater had been balanced on the loose foot, so staff obviously knew about it. I did plug it in for a short while, but when I left the room to go to the bar I unplugged it, the plug was very hot, so obviously an issue and potentially a fire risk. The bar was quite busy, and the staff friendly. I will definitely not be using this place again.

The room was spotless and the staff were excellent. The room was nice and warm with plenty of draw and hanging space.

Well stocked bar and a great breakfast

My first impression was poor due to the look of the access to my room. It was up some steps over an open store full of clutter. The room itself was comfortably warm and clean with everything required for my stay. The bed was very comfortable. The decor was rather dated and the curtains a little tired. Breakfast was excellent. I could choose what I wanted and how I wanted it cooking. It was delicious and served by a very obliging waiter/chef. All in all, I enjoyed my stay.

Great location and a decent breakfast. However, I’m surprised the room has passed any booking agent inspection with: Radiator not working, including thermostatic valve removed; toilet door did not close; window closed but did not seal allowing wind to blow freely through.

Food was great. Check in was a surprise and cost extra because of a glitch with Expedias booking. Not impressed but impressed that Pat did what she could to correct it.

Nice old building and the village was beautiful with nice walks!

I don't know where to start I wish we were staying longer. From arriving, being settling in, the meals, the service, the locals, the surrounding area, was just all perfect. We will definitely be returning in the future when we in the area again, very gutted it is so far from our home otherwise it went would be visiting more often.

A traditional English pub set in the village green in this beautiful village. Walkable to Aysgarth Falls. Great value pub food and nice staff. Overall a lovely stop off for us on the way up to the Scottish Highlands.

Very clean throughout. Small shower cubicle but water lovely and hot. Free wifi and breakfast, with a tasty selection of foods. We also enjoyed a reasonably priced evening meal and a drink in the friendly bar. Beautiful village and area in general. Great communication, friendly service and excellent value for money, with special deals advertised for Christmas and Bonfire Night bundles. Will definitely return for a longer stay.

There is no parking. Noisy in evenings but it is a pub.Rooms are tight for space

When we booked in they didn't have our name on their list or that we had a dog. The room we were given was a little dated considering the amount we had paid and comparing against other properties that we had stayed at. The food was very good and the service was quick. Wifi was non existant in the bedroom but fine in the pub. All the staff were nice. The village itself was beautiful.
