Clean and comfortable room. A little cramped for four of us, but fine for just one night.

Generally the hotel was underwhelming in Service terms whether in the bar, restaurant or breakfast services. Chaotic in terms of seeming to be able to manage basic processes (taking an order/handling cash correctly/getting table orders right/ completely forgetting items ordered/ items completely empty or missing at breakfast etc). Overall experience was impacted by stress of wondering if we could order something that would 1] turn up at all 2] partially turn up 3] eventually turn up but be partial order or incorrect etc.

The shower was good!! Pool okay, but attendant was smoking No pizza no veggie tart. Paid full price for child whereas should've been free. Still waiting for refund

Great staff, very professional, very helpful, gym and swimming pool was good My meal on second evening was greasy though (disappointed)

Love staying here, stay around 3-4 times a year. Great location, very clean and friendly staff.

The room was spacious and comfortable for our one night stay. The bathroom sink drain was blocked but dealt with promptly by the staff and plumber. Standard buffet breakfast with several options.

First impressions were disappointing when arriving at the hotel. Bedroom was ok, bathroom nice, lovely white fluffy towels. The hotel appeared to have relatively new carpet but the place was dull, needed repainting, reception was cluttered, restaurant unappealing as was the pool. Breakfast was ok - certainly not worth £17 pp. Would not stay again.

we were offered a room with a work station and the room didnt have any space even though the room was massive -the sofa was in the wrong place and blocked the whole table - no chair and the tv took up the whole of the work station and mirror... when raised with the reception staff she told us that she would just refund the money and we could leave?!! and stay somewhere else even though we were 200 miles from home and it was 7 at night

Avoid the ground floor. The floorboards creak so loudly from above, and you can hear every footstep. You have no chance of a restful sleep if the occupant above is an early riser, or gets up a lot through the night. The beds aren't particularly comfortable and the hotel is very dated. Food options ran out over the dinner service, so choices were limited. There is no bottled water or fridge available in the rooms. Staff are pleasant, although we were given minimal information at check-in on facilities, check-out time etc. I will not be returning.

Me and my daughter stayed one night, enjoyed the swimming but the changing area floor and mats could do with a clean. Food and service very good. Our bedroom was spacious and the bed was clean.

We booked a room for 5 and we only had enough beds for 4. We queried this with reception and an additonal folding bed was brought to us. Sadly it was very uncomfortable and the mattress was so thin. The aircon was also not working and it extremely hot that night- rubbish night sleep :(

Dreadfully slow check-in. Very shabby. Air con not working and not able to open window. No fans available when requested.

A couple of minor issues checking in, not enough beds for the booking and the TV didn't work. The building itself is a bit run down but the staff were excellent, especially Mark

Cons: Room cold and couldn't adjust temperature. Charged twice for stay (and had to chase for refund), from which we realised online rate paid was substantially more expensive than the on-the-day rate, which isn't great - only cheaper rate was refunded. Very shabby exterior and outside space (particularly considering the price per night relatively expensive), location not particularly central. Long walk to room from reception. Room key stopped working after first night, had to be reprogrammed. Pros: Quiet room. Free late checkout approved with minimal fuss. Snacks granted for billing inconvenience.

Very disappointed initially. No venelation in the room and aircon not working. I am asthmatic and the room temp was 23 degrees.At 2.30am hall porter came to rescue with water and a fan. Moved, thanks to Freya at reception. With this exception, staff were unfriendly, although we had no further issues.further issues. Nice pool and easy access to Chester on public transport.

Booked a twin room and somewhere in the booking process it got changed to a double. Arrived and the lobby seemed updated and nice, friendly staff which is a plus. However, our air conditioning unit stopped working so we were offered a new room which was great and quick and we got to change to a twin room. The receptionist made it obvious that they are aware of issues with air conditioning units and had to have another staff member check that the AC units in 3 different room definitely worked before offering it. The new room was okay, spacious and good blackout curtains but there are no plugs near the beds and the pillows on the bed are so tall and plump that they aren’t comfortable (personal preference here though). Some bathroom fixtures were broken and the water pressure was abysmal. My friend had to wash her very long hair in the sink because it fully turned off at one point which is unacceptable. We were kept up by other guests noise during the night as there’s no sound proofing, I could hear a tv loudly all night so we didn’t sleep well. The rooms also get very warm and the AC unit doesn’t do enough to combat this to a comfortable temperature. The list of amenities stated rooms had fridges but neither of our rooms featured a fridge. The hand wash is parsley and smells awful and your hands will smell like herbs after. Overall I was somewhat disappointed with the stay, I know they say you get what you pay for but it should still be functional despite a cost.
