I knew that it was an old building with an interesting history and that is part of its charm, so not surprising that it could do with a bit of maintenance. However, that did not affect my stay. I really enjoyed staying there, the room was clean and had everything I needed. The staff were attentive and helpful. The food was of good quality, well cooked and presented. The situation is lovely and I particularly enjoyed being able to sit on the lawn or terrace and enjoy the view. I was staying on my own but felt quite content, and comfortable to be there. I just needed to get away for a few days break and Knoll House proved to be the perfect place for me.

Very traditional hotel with history displayed. We had a room 131 located at the rear of the main hotel which we found just right. Location is convenient for NT’s Knowl Beach.

We love this hotel. The pool, breakfast, staff, location is great. Understand this is a old hotel so everything looks a bit used, but that's what gives it great character, we stay here every year as we love studland beach.

A very pleasant few days stay. The character of the hotel and the very pleasant and helpful staff added to the overall effect . Particularly enjoyed a very hearty breakfast and enjoyed some very nice dinners food excellent. the location is ideal with ample parking. I hope to book again.

Excellent location but very busy road directly outside. Evening food was very good but breakfast less so. Hotel decor was a bit tired and paying extra to use the outdoor pool felt wrong and something we had not encountered anywhere else. The price felt expensive for what was provided.

The staff where all very polite and helpful. When we got to our room it appeared that housekeeping forgot the shower as the previous occupants hair was on the shower wall, this was remedied after about an hour. Food wasn't great for the price given what is on offer within walking distance, and given the final bill for room and food I doubt very much I would return.

Breakfast was fab. They do the best scrambled eggs!! Varied choice
Rooms clean but dated. The WiFi could do with being updated too. Staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, a nice few days away

Great location and buffet breakfast was good. However, to use the pool and spa facilities they asked for a £10 per day per person surcharge as hotel not booked direct, this was not made clear at booking. Ate in restaurant one evening, quality of meal was poor.

We enjoyed it because of the location otherwise it would have just been a 3star hotel. Studland bay is glorious and so easy to access from the hotel. We will go back.

The property was very run down . The facilities were badly looked after, if not non existent. The food was very average. The drinks were extremely overpriced. The hotel was much too expensive for what was on offer. We were expecting a spa hotel, and it definitely wasn’t. Very disappointed.

If you don’t pay for the hotel directly you have to pay £10 per person per day to use the pool. This adds up for a family. We went for the weekend but check in wasn’t until 4pm and so we had an hour in the pool after 4pm and check out was at 11am on the Sunday, but when we tried to pay on the Sunday we were told that the hotel was at capacity and couldn’t purchase any use of the pool. There was no use booking a hotel with a pool we couldn’t use. They allowed glass by the pool and my grandson managed to cut himself on someone’s broken glass during the one hour we were there. The pool is lovely so it was v disappointing not to use it

This is a wonderful place to spend a day or two if you are looking for a characterful and charming hotel. It has comfortable facilities, is family and dog friendly and is in a fantastic location. Our room had a gorgeous sea view from a large picture window and was lovely and spacious.
Staff are friendly and approachable and do their very best to assist with any queries or issues.
Knoll House smacks of 1940's nostalgia, with a relaxing ambiance but could use a touch of TLC. Just a few bits and bobs require attention as a little tired in places; a few mod cons such as air conditioning and integrated charging points would be great, but nothing that would be a game changer for us. Also more Plant Based hot buffet options such as sausages, hash browns and tofu scramble as standard would be nice.
We had an enjoyable stay nonetheless and we would definitely stay again. We have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

On arrival shower did not work nor did the water drain. Took 4 hours to sort.
Big mix up in restaurant over bill when we sat with friends. To our embarrassment they paid the lot. We were asked to move table at breakfast because the two of us evidently sat on a four table, there were plenty of empty tables. We refused to move. Only one coffee machine working at one breakfast, very long queues. Ordered ice cream one afternoon to eat on the terrace, chef didn’t have time to prepare before he was due to finish his shift. Only found out when we queried why we hadn’t had it. We were refunded. Service charge added to bill, which after we had paid we found was discretionary. Did not ask for back as all charges were from bar, and Aiden who worked at the bar was so helpful. We would have had to pay £10 each per day to use hotel pool.
Overall hotel was a bit tired but we were quite happy with that, the location was fantastic, in the main the junior staff were very friendly and helpful. We have been to this hotel 3 times before and have never had a problem before, in the main it seemed understaffed.
The jury is out on whether we shall go again, but we probably will and hope things are back to normal
