Parking was a nightmare, not on site and directions not clear.

We stayed for 2 nights to look at the area due to our daughter relocating for work. The hotel was a bit dated, it was clean, en-suite with a bath, bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee in the rooms. Breakfast was lovely. In the pub attached to the hotel. There was a good band on the Saturday night. Parking was in a car park opposite, we didn’t have to pay due to the times we were there. There was plenty of space. There was a lovely Indian restaurant next door. A Greene King Pub opposite. ASDA was across the road. Close to the main road to get to Southend, Leigh on Sea and train station (40 minutes into London). A quiet area but if you are exploring it is a great base. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

Good little hotel. Only had a quick stop but everything was great. Nice breakfast and quick in the morning. Extremely friendly staff 🙌

It where okay

Great location and free parking. Great value with a decent breakfast. Staff were friendly and room was fresh and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Would stay again!

The room was clean and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was good, not a huge selection but enough choice to accommodate most people. The Oakland is in a very convenient location. Saturday night they have a live band which can be noisy if you want the windows open. The bar was busy and the atmosphere friendly the band when we stayed was very good. The joining walls in room are thin, we could here the tv and hairdryer from next door.

A bit dated and tierd, but tidy, clean, warm and great staff

Excellent value for money. Room clean, roomy and welcoming. It's not 5 star, but for the price superb and breakfast was fantastic. Can't fault the place.

Very good value for money, clean and warm room, really good breakfast

Really modest hotel, my teenage daughter described it as being cosy. The hotel was very clean, the double room was very large. Closet space was adequate. Tea and biscuits were provided in the room. Breakfast was freshly cooked full English, had choices of cereal and different teas. Was most pleased as my fav peppermint was on offer...never is at other hotels. It was in a very quiet area but with restaurant/takeout within a 1 minute walk, there is a Chinese opposite, Indian restaurant adjacent and fish and chips all within a small boulevard. Few parking was available at the rear. Has 2 floors with no lift. Has bar downstairs, I stayed on a Saturday was in room 32 and contrary to reviews I read the ban was really nice. I stayed on the second floor and my window was open I could hear the band just. I'm unsure what time they played until but at 12 midnight I realised I couldn't hear them anymore. I really also loved the community feel in the pub on the Sunday, everyone seem to know each other. I really enjoyed my stay, the staff as well were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend.

Lovely room, brilliant shower, nice staff. Everything good, i can't comment on the breakfast because i slept in and missed it!

Room was perfectly adequate for the money we paid. Breakfast was good. The location is good. Car park is too difficult to find we gave up. Staff lovely and friendly

Earlier in the afternoon I needed a new tyre as drove over a pothole, so I was delayed by over 2 hours and my ETA as a result was about 9.45-10pm, I rang them about 6pm to say I was going to be late, to let them know to watch out for me and apologise and ask what the procedure was for such situations, and their checkin time was 8pm and I wasnt going to make it for then, and noone answered but they said please leave a message as someone will get back, so i did. Noone responded and i ended up sleeping in a friends kids bed in Colchester as by the time i got to Essex (i had travelled from Cheshire) it was getting a bit late and id had no response from the Oakland, and I needed somewhere to sleep! i rang them the next day to explain what had happened, just so they knew, and again got no answer or response to my message. I am not happy, Ive tried to keep them informed and communicate with them and got nothing.

It was all perfectly good.

Smalll room but all that was needed was in it. Good staff, and breakfast
