The Oakland

Room was perfectly adequate for the money we paid. Breakfast was good. The location is good. Car park is too difficult to find we gave up. Staff lovely and friendly

Earlier in the afternoon I needed a new tyre as drove over a pothole, so I was delayed by over 2 hours and my ETA as a result was about 9.45-10pm, I rang them about 6pm to say I was going to be late, to let them know to watch out for me and apologise and ask what the procedure was for such situations, and their checkin time was 8pm and I wasnt going to make it for then, and noone answered but they said please leave a message as someone will get back, so i did. Noone responded and i ended up sleeping in a friends kids bed in Colchester as by the time i got to Essex (i had travelled from Cheshire) it was getting a bit late and id had no response from the Oakland, and I needed somewhere to sleep! i rang them the next day to explain what had happened, just so they knew, and again got no answer or response to my message. I am not happy, Ive tried to keep them informed and communicate with them and got nothing.

It was all perfectly good.

Very pleasant venue

The room was really basic, tired and freezing cold as the heating wasn't put on, despite me requesting it. It was a budget double. However the bathroom wasn't bad and I enjoyed nice hot baths. The staff were pleasant, and the breakfast was good. The bar was dingey and I didn't like having to go in there if the reception wasn't manned. Parking was a lottery, but I was mostly lucky. The location was convenient to ASDA and lovely sea walks at Marsh Farm and Burnham on Crouch.

2 points that's where a niggle. Not wrote the stay off as we did really enjoy our stay. But sadly didn't know about the live bands on Saturday nights. Even though we was top floor it was impossible too go to sleep prior too it finishing. If I knew prior me being a light sleeper would of brought ear plugs and room was quite chilly was the other niggle. Did love the room, the location for us was perfect, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room.

Good value for money hotel..... rooms are clean and the breakfast is as good as you get for this sort of budget.

Really good overall. Breakfast was also out fact and good. For the money I paid it was decent.

Nice pub hotel for quick stop over. Well coated with numerous pubs/restaurants close by and a large Asda for other bits. Pub was busy night I stayed but noise wasn’t too bad. Friendly people and a good atmosphere. Will use again.

My staying this time was so amazing. Everything was on point. Cleanliness was perfect. Breakfast, superb. So comfortable and quiet. Nothing to complain this time. Well done Oakland!!!!

Basic hotel experience but everything was good. Room was clean and tidy, good sized TV that worked well. Bathroom was clean, shower was a nice temperature. Breakfast cooked to order was lovely, again just the basics of a full English but all nicely cooked.

My room didn't have a fan in it. However, my friends did and they said they'd run out of fans. Housekeeping was annoying and kept banging on the doors, I left my fire stick there yet housekeeping claimed it wasn't there
