It was a privilege to stay in this hotel. Wonderful architecture and characterful accommodation. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent. If you like bland custom built corporate chain hotels this is not for you. But if you would like a unique experience and to know that by staying you are helping to fund its renovation then the Grand Hotel de l’Abbaye will suit you very well.

The room is ok. Missing instruction guide for the safety box . The tv is so tiny , missing english channels. Many stairs cases no elevetors. We had difficulty as my husband has difficulty with stairs cases. As he easily get tired due to lungs problem. And beside he has a wheel chair and a walker.

La chambre « économique» (à 120EUR la nuit tout de même) est à éviter.
Ça sent le moisi, très humide, c’est bas de plafond, de la moisissure dans la salle de bain et c’est très bruyant car une porte donne sur l’extérieur.

Such a unique place. Super nice staff. Just a wonderful experience. There is no elevator, so pack light, but the stairway is worth the climb. You’ll know what I mean once you’ve seen it. ;-)

Fantastiskt tillmötesgående personal!!! Härligt rum med moderna touch men oförstörd patina och lugn av historiens vingslag. Fräscht och oförstört. Vår son 13 år älskade det! Lugnet, rymden och vänligheten!

What an amazing location with the nicest genuine staff we’ve encountered. The Hotel Abbey has an amazing history and is like being transported back in time . Sympathetic renovations have kept the olde world charm of this amazing building with its beautiful views over the Loire river and bridge.
We arrived late after a long drive from lake Annecy but we were given an amazing meal cooked on a wood burner and hand made deserts that that make in house that would shame some five stars .
Do yourselves a favour and visit this amazing establishment and chat to the owner , he’s a lovely gentleman .

Nous avons été très déçus par cet hôtel. Piètre rapport qualité-prix. Notre chambre manquait d’attention, basse de plafond et assez sombre. La propreté n’était pas parfaite, une serviette sale et des miettes, dont un bretzel apéritif par terre.
Certes le personnel était accueillant et l’hôtel est en plein centre-ville. Mais pour presque 90$/nuit, clairement, ces deux points ne rééquilibrent pas l’offre.

Veldig interessant slottshotell, med spesielle rom, og fint nyoppussede bad. Siden resepsjonist også var bartender tok ting litt tid. Frokosten var grei, men eggerøre og bacon hadde de ikke. Man kunne koke egg selv, tok sin tid. Morsomt sted å bo, men tungt å bære opp bagasjen. Ikke heis. Veldig koselig liten by, med flere gode restauranter

The property is truly unique and special. Staff are very friendly and helpful, Location is great- easy to explore and walk around Beaugency. Food is superb, both breakfast and Dinner. The basin tap temperature control was odd. It started off cold then quickly turned to hot no matter which direction you turned the lever. A minor issue but otherwise highly recommended.
