What a wonderful stay I had at The Modernist Hotel, it’s super stylish, really well located and easy to get to all the major sights, an amazing and very friendly young staff, from reception, the cafe and the bar, the cleaning staff, and crowning it all a fantastic roof top bar where you can drink looking at wonderful views of Athens. I’m definitely coming back there again next year.

Friendly staff. Great location walkable to nice bars and restaurants. Good breakfast. Nice rooftop. Unfortunately, the bathroom is not practical. Water goes everywhere when you are having a shower because there is no tray, door or curtain. Window in the room was not accessible because it was above the bed frame.

No tissue box and no room for suitcases in room Otherwise we would rate it 5 stars Front desk staff gave great recommendation for restaurant and help with things in the area.

Lovely, well kept modern hotel in a lovely residential neighborhood. Some sights are walking distance and a Metro stop is right nearby. The thermostat control is obtuse—didn’t seem to work the same way two days in a row. Front desk can set it remotely. Breakfasts are substantial.

Nice part of Athens to walk around in. The breakfast was good and had a large variety of choices. We enjoyed our stay.

Terrific, inventive, fun place, great roof terrace with DJ, very nice room, absolutely delightful staff and a great breakfast. Had been staying at an upmarket boutique hotel. Our flight home was cancelled after three hours on the tarmac and we scrambled to find a hotel for the night. Thrilled that we stumbled on the Modernist. Would definitely stay again. A great experience and a great value.

Everything was excellent. The location is quiet and safe. The hotel is modern and very comfortable. I recommend it.

Quiet and understated

What an absolute gem this hotel is. Honestly one of our favourite places we’ve stayed for a city break. The staff are exceptional. So friendly and helpful and just lovely. Every single one of them. From reception, wait team, cleaners - they couldn’t have been nicer. The breakfast is delicious - we tried basically everything and it was all so good. We had a family room as we have 3 kids and it was great - enough room for us all, lovely balcony, looked modern and stylish. There are great restaurants all around, we walked to the lovely botanic gardens and monument for fallen soldiers and quick taxi to acropolis. Genuinely this is an absolute treasure of a hotel and we would definitely come back if we return to Athens.

The first thing you notice is how genuinely friendly the staff was and how helpful with recommendations. An extra shout out to Christina and Michael. Rooms and bathrooms were large and in excellent condition

Everything about this hotel was exceptional - but my favorite part was the amazing breakfast options. The staff were fantastic, the rooms were incredible. Many places within walking distance. Great roof top views!

We were only there for a night but everyone was super friendly and helpful. I liked the area as well. Hotel has everything you would need.

Having worked with a global luxury hotelier, I tend to put a different lens on hotel reviews. The Modernist Hotel, Athens, is modern, fresh, and comes with some of the best staff I’ve ever experienced. Service is paramount to them and they genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Their breakfast selection is amazing. It’s fresh fruit and breads and cereals are some of the best I’ve experienced. Beds are very comfortable, shower is excellent. Loads of hot water. The drawbacks though, could be things that would make you not return. Rooms are very small and they have no drawers or shelving for clothing. They have a few hangers in an open “closet” area and a large drawer underneath. But the drawer is taken up by the safe. Now, to get to the safe, you need to get down on your hands and knees as it’s at floor level. This is ridiculous. Clothes and belongings will be strewn across the room or you’ll be living out of your suitcase. When mentioning this to staff they will each say the same line “it’s part of the hotel concept”. The concept they are displaying is one of “suck it up” and “we don’t care. The bathroom is small and there’s little shelving for your bits and pieces. We had to remove a kettle from a small cupboard to store a few clothes.Same with a radio - we removed it from a ledge to use the ledge for our phone charger. The gym is quite appalling to be frank. It has a wooden treadmill and a wooden bike. The treadmill isn’t the standard flat surface but bowed.

Great hotel two metro stops to the Acropolis & Plaka. Even better breakfast buffet.

Nice clean room. Our bathroom was very big, and the room was very small. could've used some of the room in the bathroom in the living space. best hotel breakfast that i've ever had. great neighborhood, that is away from the tourist craziness.
