We really enjoyed our stay at The Modernist. The hotel is in a quiet and lovely part of Athens, though very quick and easy to visit the main attractions from here. Breakfast was fabulous and staff all friendly and helpful. Kolonaki has many great non-touristy restaurants too. Would highly recommend.

It was a great stay! It’s in a decent location probably about 30-40 minutes walking distance from the Plaka, and close to public transportation. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel staff was friendly and responsive to our requests. The shower/bathroom was a good size, and the patio was a nice touch. The breakfast was absolutely top notch! The rooftop terrace had a cool view of the Parthenon, which was lit up in the evening.

The room was a reasonable size and the breakfast was truly incredible with a great spread. Staff were super helpful and accommodating as well

The hotel was lovely and the staff were really nice and friendly. The hotel was in the perfect place for my needs, with quick connection to the airport train and plenty of restaurants or shops around the area. It feels a shame to deduct a star for this, but the light switches in the room were a triumph of form over function, it was extremely difficult to work out what they did as they all rotate through several positions, without any labelling or marks. I sometimes just used my phone torch instead! Also the teabags in the room were very unusual flavours which could happily be replaced with more regular green or black teas. So bring your own teabags and a torch and you'll love it!

breakfast variety is not huge, but service and quality are great ! we really enjoyed breakfast. The service overall was great. Location is not in the center, but very close to public transportation. The main issue was that the room was very small, and it had a window to a wall). Since we stayed for 1 night it did not bother us, but make sure you have a balcony room (MUST)

There are many excellent things about the Modernist Athens: design (clean-cut black and white), transport and location (walkable to the major sites/museums and also two minutes from a Metro stop and bus lines that can take you straight into the centre and to the airport), great breakfast (both cooked options and good buffet variety), rooftop bar (with a view of the Acropolis), and free daily wine tastings and Pilates/yoga sessions. But the best thing: the staff. Welcoming, gracious, good humoured and attentive without overdoing it. Perfect.

What a wonderful stay I had at The Modernist Hotel, it’s super stylish, really well located and easy to get to all the major sights, an amazing and very friendly young staff, from reception, the cafe and the bar, the cleaning staff, and crowning it all a fantastic roof top bar where you can drink looking at wonderful views of Athens. I’m definitely coming back there again next year.

Friendly staff. Great location walkable to nice bars and restaurants. Good breakfast. Nice rooftop. Unfortunately, the bathroom is not practical. Water goes everywhere when you are having a shower because there is no tray, door or curtain. Window in the room was not accessible because it was above the bed frame.

No tissue box and no room for suitcases in room Otherwise we would rate it 5 stars Front desk staff gave great recommendation for restaurant and help with things in the area.
