I love the place, it’s our 8th time

I had an amazing stay at this location. The customer service was on point at all times and the facilities were clean and well kept. I will definitely recommend for quiet laid back vacation for the entire family. It felt very safe as well.

Huge resort. Huge swimming pools. Feels like a small town all on its own. No reason to ever leave while there for a week. Decent food at buffets, Tokyo and la trattoria restaurant. But .. Huge seaweed/sargassum problem. They can't keep up cleaning it (and honestly impossible). Beaches are also rocky for the most part. Basically if you go in the summer, you got a use the pools which are nice and lots of shade around them. In the restaurants they require long pants. Period. Can't negotiate. 90F outside and you got a wear pants. Nice shorts, nice shirt, does not matter. Ppl coming in dirty track/sweat pants and sneakers looking 20 years old are welcome. Anyhow, they made us wear their waiter pants (they were washed/dry cleaned before). Expedia does not mention anywhere that pants are required for dinner.

Í enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was very welcoming. However, the check in and check out process was not great. We got an hour late check in because the room wasn’t ready yet so they sent us to a further room. Also checking out, no one was at the desk early morning so someone else had to do the process for us.

Bathrooms need an upgrade, staff didn’t speak English well so rarely greeted you. Pools close at 6:00pm, strict dress code for men in reservation dinners! (Why!!!) it’s too hot to wear pants, and in hibachi you sitting around table and can’t see a person’s bottom! Stupid rule! It’s nice dress clothes that don’t have to be pants. Even the lunch buffet made you get dress to still come eat outside. The entire resort shuts down by 8:00pm! Nothing to do but go to the room and sit. Need more evenings activities if you going to close just about everything down early. Even the mall! Close early and no one shopping or there to open the stores. Never staying there again. FYI…other Barcelo greet there guest with welcome drinks and make you feel excited you are here. Not this place.

The cleaning personal removed a bowl of fresh fruit and chocolates from our room a day after we reviewed them.

Resort itself was beautiful and well kept. Pool and beach was clean. Plenty of beach chairs for everyone! A ton of space for everyone. It never felt crowded! Buffet food was decent- Captain Morgan at the caribe and Mexican nights were our favourite! Staff were friendly. Rooms were outdated but clean. Our AC and drain were not working properly, staff acted on it fast. Many staff called and checked up on us during our stay. Carlos Lopez- manager at the Caribe was doing a routine round and when we voiced our concerns, he immediately provided us with options. Customer service was outstanding! We initially booked a standard room but got free premium bracelets upgrade with Expedia gold! Well worth it- got to do hydrotherapy circuit everyday! Later in our stay, we did get upgraded to a premium suite to compensate for the problems in our room (the problems were already resolved after maintenance came and looked at it)- premium rooms are very nice, would book a premium suite the next time I return! Well worth it! Be sure to check out the Mexicana Plaza, lots of local vendors with good deals! REMEMBER TO BRING SUNSCREEN! IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE AT THE RESORT! Banana boat was $40
