This is not a glamorous destination hotel, but it is an immaculate and welcoming haven for travellers to Cardiff, and the perfect option for my daughter and I while we packed up and cleaned her student accommodation. The beds were very comfortable and the secure parking, locked from 10 pm to 7 am, meant that we could load up the car and park at the hotel, without extra charge (£25/night at most central hotels but complimentary for Tanes residents) the night before leaving without worrying about security. Btw, big up to the Sparrow Coffee House round the corner on Four Elms Road for an excellent start to our day with a warm greeting, coffee and danish pastries.
Overall, the Tanes Hotel was excellent value for our needs.
Note to US visitors from an ex-NY resident: walking 30+ mins in the EU is normal to access local amenities. The Tanes is at least a 15 min walk from the city’s excellent pubs and restaurants and well worth the exercise. Alternatively there are plenty of local taxi/Uber services which afford the experience of meeting local colourful characters while en route - the Welsh love a chat. Embrace the cultural difference - you might even have fun! Croeso i gymru! X

カーディフ・クイーンズ・ストリート駅から重いスーツケースを引いて徒歩約20分の一本道を経てたどり着いたこのホテル。
チェックイン時に建物に入る鍵と部屋の鍵を2本預かります。
なにか用があるときは入り口近くのチャイムを鳴らす仕組みですが、自分の部屋が入り口に近かった分、チャイムの音はけっこう響きますね。
けっこう壁は薄いと思います。
自分は一人で泊まったのですが、ツインの部屋でトイレにシャワーブースなどとても綺麗でした。
翌朝のモーニングは別料金でしたがイングリッシュブレックファーストをいただきました。
朝でとても混んでいて少し待たされましたがチェックアウト時に今朝遅くなってごめんなさいねと謝られ、気にしてないよと伝えました。
駅までの移動は長いですが、バスも頻繁に通っているのでまた使ってもいいかと思います。
住宅街ですが、駅からホテルまでの途中で曲がるとアジアからヨーロッパ、中東など国際色豊かな料理やスーパーが並ぶとおりがあって面白かったです。

部屋は狭いけど、承知の上なので問題なし。防音性が低いのか、隣の部屋のテレビがうるさかった。
朝顔洗ったり、ひげそったりの音も筒抜け。wi-fiはたまに途切れることもあった。カーディフの中心からは少し離れているけど、歩いても20分ほど。トイレ、シャワーは共用。汚いというほどではないけど、清潔でもない。まあでも安いし、こんなもんでしょう。

週末のカーディフ街中心部に空室がなく、宿泊費が手頃で、バス通りに面し比較的わかりやすかったのでここを選びましたが、クィーンストリート駅から徒歩圏内と言えなくもありません。
ホテルは価格相応ですが特に不満はありません。、街中心部も安価で良い宿はあまりないようなので、ここを選ぶのもも決して悪くないと思います。
ちなみに、街中心部からのバスは Newport Rd.方面、#30, #44, #45、
逆に宿→街方面はこの他 #49, #50 も使用できます (宿方向は経由が異なる)。

The hotel is generally well maintained & presentable. The single room was clean, comfortable, well appointed & an adequate size. Unfortunately, it was hot & stuffy with no fan & rather noisy as it faced a busy main road (had to keep the window open due to the hot weather). The location of the hotel is good, about 15 minutes walk from the city centre.

I stayed at this hotel during a period when temperatures were over 30°C, and I was genuinely shocked that the hotel couldn’t provide even a single fan. When I called reception, I was simply told to open the window. Anyone who has stayed in hotels like this knows the windows only open a small amount, and the building traps heat, making the room unbearably hot.
The staff claimed that all fans were “sold out,” which I find very difficult to understand. This wasn’t an unexpected heatwave—summer happens every year. I even checked Amazon while I was there, and fans were readily available to buy. It’s disappointing that the hotel didn’t prepare for such a predictable situation or make any effort to look after guests’ comfort.
What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff. Instead of showing empathy or trying to offer an alternative solution, they spoke rudely and made me feel like my concerns didn’t matter.
I would not recommend staying here during the summer unless the hotel improves its facilities and customer service. A hotel should be prepared for seasonal weather and treat its guests with respect.

Room was extremely hot but uk was having a heat wave no fan. Noise from the road with windows open. Small compacted room for single travellers. I think there's damp / mold behind the wall paper. By the bed wall paper peeling could see black mole, also near window. This was a one night stay and Cardiff was busy. I feel the room be cheaper, but your probably paying for location. I wouldn't stay again as there are bigger better places with breakfast available if i had booked earlier.
