Very close to the town centre, so it was very convenient to take part in the tour to go round in the island. Nice view from the room window facing the symbolic castle.

We received a lovely warm welcome. Our room was beautifully clean with very comfortable beds. The Boatshed restaurant was amazing. Delicious food and huge portions. Breakfast was equally delicious and staff were friendly, attentive and highly professional. I’d recommend a stay here.

This is an old property that needs to be refreshed. The floors are creaky and the rooms not sound proof. The room was also stuffy. A disappointment for sure. We should have booked somewhere else. Breakfast was ok except large bus tours both nights gobbled up the food.

Had a late dinner and the meal was excellent. The location was very walkable to many of the local sites and points of interest.

We had a mixed experience at the Royal. Overall it was a good place to stay, good location, clean and comfortable. The heating system in the room took a bit of working out. But it was our experiences in the two restaurants that caused our mixed review. Missing a dish and slow service at lunch and very delayed and slow service in the evening meal. After some discussion both issues were resolved to our satisfaction.

Very friendly and welcoming employees. Hotel is in a great location but overpriced. The two main restaurants were good and the food excellent. However the bedrooms are dated and tired, in particular the bathrooms.

Great view of harbour from room. Old fashioned decor, but well kept and very clean. Good dinner and lively atmosphere in the HS1 restaurant (even for a Sunday!). Central location in the town, with view of the castle and its beautiful gardens. Free parking at rear of hotel. Lots of little shops, cafes and pubs nearby.

Excellent hotel!! Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful rooms. Beautifully adorned. Conveniently located for Ferry, shopping, food and traveling the island. Will stay here again when I next visit.

Very cute little room, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent food. We didn’t roam too far for food and even came back later in our trip to come back for a last meal. They accommodated our dietary restrictions with excellent alternatives. Fantastic stay!!

We absolutely loved it here. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and friendly. The room was lovely overlooking the castle and harbour. The breakfast was all freshly cooked and delicious. We could not fault any of it would definitely recommend.

The room was spacious and clean, but needed soundproofing. The bathroom needed a tub. The view of the castle was very nice. The restaurant was bustling, the food was tasty. The staff were friendly.

Tired. In need of refurbishment. Reception staff were first class ....went the extra mile. Restaurant staff at breakfast were disinterested. Quality of buffet was ok but uninspiring. No lift, so be careful if you have heavy luggage. Car parking tight and not obvious to find. Remember you are on the Outer Isles😃😃😃😃
