Overall it was a terrible hotel. Not worth the price. First of all, the owner was not there at check-in time and we had to wait 30 minutes. The floor of the room was very dirty. The toilet sometimes did not flush. The water pressure in the shower was weak. The owner introduced us to a 3-day Easter Island tour, so we joined it. It was USD $100 per person. The tour was to visit the main tourist sites such as Rano Kau, Rano Raraku, and Ahu Tongariki. This was extremely bad. The car was worn out and did not start, and did not depart on time. The explanation for each step was long. The explanation continued until other tourists arrived and departed. They suggested that we have lunch when we arrived at Anakena Beach, but we arrived at 4pm. Unbelievable. They suggested a horse riding tour, but the schedule for the day was really bad. We thought we had arrived after 20 minutes of shaking on a rough road, but it turned out we had gotten to the wrong place and had to go back the way we came. When I checked the riding time, I was told it was probably 30 or 40 minutes later. Very disappointing. I canceled the ride and got a refund, but they did not refund the USD $30. They said it was for the extra fee for getting up early in the morning and the gas. I complained about the ride, but they said it was not my fault. They offered to take me to the airport for an additional USD $10, but I refused. I recommend not staying at this hotel. Do not join the tour. It was a really awful hotel.

I love this hotel , it’s family owned and the owners are very nice people . The continental breakfast was great with variety of food to choose from . The rooms were clean, the AC and fridge worked well and there was plenty of hot water for shower . Each room had its own table in front with 2 chairs to enjoy the evenings on the island . The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels were provided. The hotel provides shuttle service from the airport when requested. We were greeted with leis made from local flowers . It was such a nice welcoming gesture . During the stay , the owners often gave us fresh fruits : mango , watermelon, maracuja and soft drinks free of charge . It is an excellent hotel .

Clean and pretty. Internet worked well. Staff and other guests were pleasant and friendly.Slanted driveway may be difficult for individuals with mobility issues.

Going to Rapa Nui my expectations were low in terms of what to expect but the bed was comfortable, hotel room was spotless, and I had hot water, a portable AC unit, fan, and power. Breakfast was free, and I was happy with it. Hanga Roa is very small and it was super easy to walk everywhere from the hotel even in flip flops. What was incredible was the hotel staff. Genuinely some of the nicest hotel staff I’ve ever met and were patient with my broken Spanish. It was super easy to check in, and they gave me my room early and let me check out late with no problem.

The room that we stayed was clean and very cozy! The bathroom as well was clean with clean towels and a hair dryer available. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good as well. Strongly recommend to stay at the hotel Hare Rapa Nui by Chez Joseph.

Staff especially Carmen were friendly and helpful throughout our six day stay. The owners Sra. Marisol y Sr. Johnathan invited us to a family barbecue that was so kind and generous.

By mainland standards, this is an unusual property. There is no signage indicating the hotel. The hotel is up a hilly driveway and what looks like the lobby near street level is for a different hotel. The owners and staff are very nice and live on the property, which is in a relatively quiet residential neighborhood. The hotel has a nice breakfast but they do not provide eggs. That wasn't important to me but it might be to others. There is no restaurant on the property beyond the breakfast room but it's a short walk to "downtown" Hanga Roa, where there are numerous restaurants. The area near the hotel has one or two restaurants and a number of shops selling souvenirs, as well as items of more interest to locals. Our room had an AC unit but I got the impression that most of the ynits did not. The room was spacious enough for 2 people. The property felt tropical, with lots of beautiful vegetation, particularly in the area of the breakfast area. If I returned to Rapa Nui, I would happily stay here again.

I would call this place a hostel versus a hotel. It is close to town, but there isn't much more positive feedback I can provide. My shower was about 18" wide and for someone who is a size 6, it was way too small. Plus I had to clean the hair out of the drain. My room was right by a light which was on all night, and in order for the AC to work, the draperies had to be open, as well as the sliding door to let the hot air out. Well, my room was right along the major walkway to other rooms, so I had to build a pile of pillows on my bed to give me any privacy. And the roosters starting to crow at 5:00 each morning sure didn't add to the ambience. There was nothing hot for breakfast, unless you consider toast hot. The staff, though, was extremely friendly, as were the chickens and baby chicks roaming wild.

The family that runs it is very nice. The "Hotel" is not as pictured and seems to share the facilities with the EcoLodge adjacent to the rooms owned by Chez Joseph. The picture to the left is not even associated with Chez Joseph, it is the Welcome area for EcoLodge. It was very confusing, the "Office" is in one of the rooms but no one was ever there. The facility is in need of many repairs and should be listed as a "Hostel" to be more accurate.

The staff was excellent especially Diego. He really went above and beyond. I had a lot of problems with my flight and luggage and he did everything possible to help. Even changed the dates of my stay without charging me. The hotel is conveniently located near many shops and stores.

They weren’t expecting us but after showing our confirmation number and a brief phone call by the staff member everything was Ok. They do not have 24/7 front desk staffing
