just loving it

We booked a 4-bed room at Hotel Forstinger via Hotels.com late in the evening, while returning from vacation with our two kids and a baby. When we arrived, the hotel was locked and the self-check-in didn’t work. We stood outside for 20–30 minutes. We called the support number – the woman was extremely rude and unhelpful. She first claimed we had no reservation, then admitted we did, but said the room wasn’t ready. Even after we told her we were outside late at night with small children, she said: “Then find another hotel. I’ll refund you.” No apology. No empathy. Just coldness and blame. She even suggested we book additional room! In the end, we stayed in the unprepared room – one bed and a sofa where the kids slept. The receptionist next morning was very kind and promised the manager would call us. That never happened. We do not recommend this hotel – especially not for families.

I booked a “Deluxe Loft, 1 Double Bed, Non Smoking, City View” that was supposed to be 538 sq ft (ca. 50 m²) When I got to the hotel, I was given a room that was barely 150 sq ft (ca. 14 m²), and when I asked the reception if a mistake was made, I was told the loft I booked was “closed for the winter”. Instead of a nice city view, we had a lousy view of a fatigued backyard. That is a problem because the room I got was much cheaper than the one I paid for. In addition to that, the Loft is still available as I am writing this, so if it's an error, no one bothered to fix it. Then, there's the fact that regardless of the room size, the hotel Forstinger doesn't deserve four stars at all. There was mold in the shower, the bathroom is overall old and moldy, the mattress is a disgrace, very uncomfortable, the “gym” is one lousy stepping machine in a corridor, and breakfast, charged €28 per person, is barely worth €10/person. I travel for work a lot, I am in 20+ different hotels each year, between three and five stars, and I can say with certainty that the Hotel Forstinger doesn't deserve four stars. Three at most. I don't thank you for almost ruining what was supposed to be a very nice experience. Luckily, everything else in Schärding beside the hotel Forstinger was a very pleasant experience. In the end, with breakfast, I paid €260 for one night, I was expecting much better.

One of the best stays I've ever had. Truly wonderful place with lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast is amazing. The room was large and had everything we needed. Set in a beautiful town. I highly recommend.

Leider hatte das Housekeeping einige schwarze lange Haare im Bad übersehen. Nach kurzer Rücksprache mit der Rezeption wurde uns ein anderes Zimmer angeboten. Wir haben aber den housekeeping noch ne Chance gegeben…. Man sieht, dass das Zimmer zumindest leicht Renovierungsbedürftig ist. Der Teppich hatte ein paar große Flecken, das Mobiliar hat auch einige Macken. Ansonsten nette Junge Damen an der Rezeption und die Lage ist auch ruhig

sehr sauber, schöne Zimmer, tolles Frühstück und sehr freundliches Personal. Sogar die Windschutzscheibe meines Fahrzeuges in der Parkgarage wurde gereinigt!

Excellent hôtel : le personnel, les chambres, la décoration, tout était parfait. Sans oublier le petit-déjeuner qui est tout simplement exceptionnel.

Es war kalt! Teuer du 146 plus 40 € Frähstück für 2 Personen.

Wir waren für vier Tage in diesem wunderschönen Stadthotel im Zentrum von Schärding. Dieses von der Besitzerin, Helene Forstinger, und einem äußerst netten und kompetenten Frauenteam, mit viel Liebe und Charme geführte Hotel, verdient in jeder Hinsicht das Prädikat " Hervorragend".

Sehr freundliches Personal, sehr leckeres Frühstück auch für den Bio-Freund / die Bio-Freundin; toller Ausgangspunkt für Spaziergänge am Inn.

An sich schönes Boutique-Hotel. Unangenehm: Expedia verspricht King-Size Bett sowie in jedem Zimmer Balkon/Patio, beides war jedoch nicht der Fall. Zzgl. Parkplatz sind ca. 190€ pro Nacht einfach zu viel, es wird nichts Besonderes geboten. Werde hier nicht mehr buchen.

ホテル内のレストランが朝食のみで、夕食他の設備設定がないので、ホテル外でしなくてはならず不便でした。

Very nicely located with a helpful staff. We were on the business trip in Germany, but this hotel just next to the border was a very good alternative.

A great little nugget not located far away from the city of Passau, Germany. Schärding is a lovely Baroque town with its own charms, and this hotel was superb. Excellent location and wonderful hotel.
