Brilliant hostel only a short walk into the historic centre of York. All facilities present and in good condition, very friendly and helpful staff. Can't think of anything that could have been improved upon.

Great hostel and folks.

We had a great stay, bed and room were very comfortable. Excellent facilities, including kitchen, dining room and activities room. Surprisingly quiet! With free tea and coffee which was a lovely bonus. Superb staff, Indu was very helpful and friendly and on our last day, offered us tea and coffee even after check out. The hostel is located within walking distance to centre, train station and major attractions. Lots of food places nearby too. We will definitely stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Välkomnande. God service. Atmosfären kändes avkopplande och bidrog till en trivsamhet. För att vara UK var det ovanligt bra ordning o reda! Så som vi vill ha det i Sverige. Möttes vid incheck av en en omhändertagande kvinna, som senare visade sig vara Manager. Så jag "kom rätt" från början. All övrig personal gav mig sedan all önskvärd service! Detta hostel är för mig klanderfritt! Enda negativa för mig som Interrailare, är i så fall är att det inte är placerat nära järnvägsstationen. Det ligger i ett lugnt villaområde. Och det var ett plus, i sig! Och en bus-stop uanför där alla går till järnvägsstationen

Good for solo travellers probably looking for inexpensive accommodation. Access to room was difficult with luggages and it was under renovation externally.

All straightforward with friendly front desk. Room was quiet and very comfortable, I’ve used a variety of hotels around the world during travel, here was honestly the best nights sleep I’ve had in a hotel/hostel, would definitely book here again.

The fantastic staff made my stay the best ever experience. Professional, helpful and very informative, thank you!

We don't get away very often and finding an affordable price with Astor, made our trip possible. The rooms were clean with communal spaces to; mingle, pay games, watch movies, plus a communal kitchen. However we chose to stick to our room as we planned as most of our time would be spent in the city. A easy walk to the city centre plus a bus for those that struggle right out side the hostel. Tea and coffee facilities were in the room, along with a shower/washroom. The area was nice and quiet, we were on the top floor (which may of helped) but the atmosphere was welcoming and peaceful. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we were happily surprised with our stay at Astor. Thankyou again Astor hostel!

Great place to stay.

From the moment we arrived to the very last hour spent at the Astor, was an absolutely wonderful experience. We loved Patrick, he checked us in so smoothly, giving us a wealth of information, advice and so much care and compassion. We love the whole building, the communal areas are so carefully thought out, designed to support your needs, gifting you space to relax and spend quality time. Our room was just lovely, we had everything we could need. The lovely communal areas and the kitchen dining area is fabulous, so much so that we have already secured our next visit and stay, and we can't wait to get there. Excellent hostel.

My stay here was perfect for someone who was just having a night out with mates. I went to the football at 3 and checked in around 6pm seamlessly. I had an allocated bed in the dormitory and it was still vacant when I arrived in at 4am. Check out was 1030 and issueless. All in all a perfect place to stay right near the city centre for those who just need a bed for a few hours on a night out. This place really is a hidden gem. The En Suite was huge with toilet, bidet, shower and separate bath. If I ever have a family event in York again I would consider getting a whole dorm if available for the family!
