We had a lovely one-night stay for my birthday. The staff were friendly and we were given a room upgrade which was a great birthday treat. The original staircase is gorgeous and our room was spacious with a lovely en-suite. The breakfast was great too. Thank you for a lovely stay.

If I had read my emails before arrival I would’ve found out about the parking being over the road but even so, staff at reception gave me all the information I needed and allocated a permit for us.
Everywhere was so clean and neat and the reception staff were so helpful and engaging, giving us some local information and also discussing driving routes etc.
room was beautiful- lovely deep bath, iron and board, hairdryer all good quality. Only issue we had was the heating, we couldn’t turn it down but it wasn’t too much of a hassle to us. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking.
Close to main centre, shopping and entertainment- we did use the bar but not the restaurant and we found it lively and clean and again lovely staff

Consumer experience has fallen from good to poor at DOE. Reception unmanned, bar / restaurant staff untrained / inattentive. Road noise from the yokels racing around is disruptive, area not safe for wandering around, dinner was tepid as if it had been waiting at the pass for top long, unlikely to stay again.

Well run hotel in the older style. Good size of room and bathroom and in a clean state. If staying on the upper 3/F the lift tends to be a bit slow. The restaurant and bar were excellent with a great atmosphere.

The biggest disappointment was that children were not allowed in the pool later in the afternoon or evening; the exact time one would come back to the hotel to swim after a day of sightseeing! Huge disappointment as the pool was the only reason I booked so far from the old town.

Best go for the superior room. The ground floor rooms are blighted by the stench of the fryers in the kitchen and the local "lads" revving their engines at the adjacent traffic lights. The hotel clearly don't want bookings from sites like Hotels.com as they make you jump through hurdles on check in, and then charge extra for the "complimentary" breakfast if you are through a booking site. I won't be back
