Lovely historic building. Beautiful grounds. Great restaurant.
Some compromise in the rooms/convenience/maintenance as you might expect for a historic building. Didn't subtract from our enjoyment, we loved it.
Great Fosters is a truly memorable stay if you’re looking for classic English manor charm with a polished luxury feel. From the moment you arrive, the property has an unmistakable old-world ambience — elegant, characterful, and full of history — while still offering the comforts and service you’d expect from a high-end hotel.
I stayed in the Coach House in a King Suite, which was the perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional setting. It felt updated and spacious without losing the sense of place, and it suited the property beautifully. The grounds were a standout: immaculately kept, peaceful, and ideal for wandering or simply sitting and enjoying the atmosphere. I took advantage of my time and walked 15 miles to Windsor Castle via the Great Windsor Park, a truly memorable day. I also spent a day by the pool, which made the stay feel even more relaxing and complete.
The bar was another highlight, with a lovely setting that matched the hotel’s overall charm and made it a great place to unwind in the evening. Overall, Great Fosters delivers a special experience that feels both luxurious and distinctly English. The only drawback is its proximity to the main highway, which can occasionally take away slightly from the otherwise serene setting. Even so, it remains a wonderful choice for anyone wanting character, comfort, and a beautifully atmospheric country-house stay.
