Very happy with our front on the front for our k e night stay. Lovely outdoor bar area with fantastic views over all the Newquay beaches

The hotel is fine. Our room looked completely different to the pictures online but we were obviously staying in the dated part. Room was tidy but carpets really old and they could just do with being replaced all together? I think the general hotel could do with a bit of a spruce up. However, lovely staff and the beds are really really comfy

All the staff were welcoming and very helpful: top marks, as was the food/drink offerings and opportunity to pre-book on-site parking. The lingering musty carpet smell throughout was off-putting and the window openings in our room were limited (probably for safety reasons), but this meant the ledges and tops of the windows (and the curtain rail) were blackened with dust and grime - not a pretty outlook for guests. I appreciate that this aspect of room cleaning could not be undertaken by the daily cleaning crew, but couldn't the maintainence team undertake a schedule of unlocking the windows in say, 5 or more vacant rooms a day to enable all the windows and curtain rails to be cleaned properly (and carpets) until the jobs were completed. Give them a bonus if the jobs are completed satisfactorily and ahead of schedule. I am not a moaner, just giving honest feed back as requested.

We had a fabulous weekend break at the Great Western Hotel. The room looks to have been newly refurbished and was nicely decorated. Tea coffee in the room and complementary toiletries in the bathroom was a nice touch. The bed was really comfy and the room was cleaned each day. Breakfast choice in the morning was excellent and well cooked. Hot food made to order or continental if you prefer. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We flew from Manchester, a 50 minute flight, caught the bus outside 30 minutes later we were in the hotel. It is a historic building with lots of memorabilia on the walls. We caught the bus to Perranporth and to Truro the walks and sights are fantastic… not to mention the beaches! We had a wonderful time. We will definitely be staying there again.

The room was was clean and tidy, the desk drawer handle broken and very little table surface. Said was parking until you reserved then said minimal parking available, but parking is available elsewhere

We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms, it was very well kept and comfortable, we were only there for one night, but would stay again. One thing is lack of parking, need to pre book as there are limited spaces, but the train station is less than a 2 min walk away, so for us it wasn’t a problem as we parked there instead.

Great location and views . Spacious room. (3 adults) short stay so didn’t explore more than the town centre and beach. Dated hotel but clean. Staff helpful. Parking wasn’t available but nearby paid/free (after 4pm) nearby. Restaurant/bar onsite.

We got a king sized bed and the room and bathroom were spacious. The fan provided was not great given the hot weather and the window was jammed so only one could be opened so room got stuffy unless the window was left open at all times. The windowsills were filthy, clearly had not been cleaned in a long time. The corridor carpets were also in bad condition with stains all over. Absolutely no A/C anywhere despite the hot temps. We got seafront so the view outside the hotel was nice. We opted out of the breakfast option due to the price and there e were much cheaper alternatives close by. The staff at reception were nice. The hotel location was great as the beach was right next to it and grocery stores were close by so very convenient location. Overall, I would only recommend the hotel for the great location, not for the amenities provided.

We had a lovely short stay at the Great Western, the hotel is a little dated but apparently is currently undergoing a refurbishment The staff were pleasant and polite The bar area was nice and the view from the beer garden is lovely, overlooking the beach The bedroom was a good size, the bathroom was ok and both were spotless The beds were very comfy The bedrooms could do with more plug sockets as there were only 2 and we had to unplug things and swap them around In saying that we would stay there again

Prime location with sea views from the restaurant/pub. Staff were friendly and always smiling. Carpets are extremely tired and somewhat dirty and dusty, they need replacement or a big carpet wash! No air con and no fridge in both rooms we had booked. With the heat you need air con. There was a fan supplied which helped. Breakfast was pretty good with limited continental items but you can also order a meal from a set menu. Staff were nice.

What a lovely hotel to stay at. The location is amazing. With beautiful views of the sea/beach. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of dining options if you didn’t fancy eating at the restaurant on site (but the menu was really good). Will definitely be back soon

Relaxed environment, a little old now. Very few parking spaces but the overflow car park nearby felt safe enough. Bar excellent, food nice. Very relaxing time

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They retained our clothing when we forgot it in the room and held it until we could return. Very kind!

The great western is updating rooms . We got a family room that was newly renovated and it was beautifully done, we had a sea view and street view. There was a misunderstanding on my booking but staff were very helpful and sorted it all out. The hotel has limited parking but you have the option to prebook a space. We struggled with our Irish phone to book parking at the train station as it wouldn't download the app. The breakfast menu had plenty of choice. We were only passing through so did not spend anytime in Newquay.

The hotel occupies a grand position looking out across the bay. However 75% of the hotel is old and well past its sell by date. On arrival I was allocated a very tired room with grubby carpet and facilities accompanied by the smell of damp. I was moved to a very well equipped room in the refurbished wing. However this was in the oof and very hot. No aircon and couldn’t open the window as road was so busy with Saturday night revellers and traffic. The best thing was my allocated parking space which saved time looking for safe parking in the town. Breakfast was poor continental choice and so slow with the cooked order I had to leave or I would have missed checkout. Coffee was dated filter coffe and all just felt a bit cheap for the £120 I paid for one night. Much nicer areas in Cornwall to stay and much better value hotels.
