Lovely manor house B&B with friendly and welcoming staff. Very short walk into the village. Food was wholesome and delicious.

Breakfast was an absolute delight. Really accommodating at short notice!

All round excellent. Friendly, lovely room and guest lounge is lovely.

The people who run the Manor were extremely welcoming and considerate. The lounge is really nice and comfortable, the room and en-suite were clean and breakfast was excellent. We’d travelled through appalling heavy rain and I was pleasantly surprised that the central heating came on in early September although Alston is at pretty high altitude and so it may be necessary. We had to go out for an evening meal because no food is available on a Sunday but I think it s on other nights. We went out at just after 6 PM and got a table at the Alston House but someone who arrived afterwards was turned away and had been turned away at the Cumberland Arms because they’d also stopped serving. It appears that you need to eat fairly early in Alston on a Sunday night or book beforehand. This isn’t really part of the review but may be worth bearing in mind.

James and Janice looked after us really well. This is a grand old characterful 16th century building ; wonderful experience.

Friendly with tasty breakfast. Huge bed. Good value for money.

Lovely characterful building right near the Teasdale Steam Railway Museum. Very nice room with comfortable bed and good shower. The restaurant was closed when we arrived but we were recommended a couple of places that we could get a meal in the Town within walking distance so this was not a problem. Breakfast was possibly the best ever tasted all served by a very friendly, smiling lady.

We stayed here half way through our C2C cycling trip and loved it. We will definitely be booking to stay again. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and the bedroom was very comfortable. We loved the bar and the upstairs residents lounge was excellent. Breakfast was by far the best of the trip.

If you like quirky old houses you'll love this place.

Good breakfast and service. Room was clean and comfortable but shower needs sorting out, water far too hot and a huge step up into and down out of the shower cubicle. You have to indicate that you want your room cleaned i.e. Bed to be made, which we did not know about so came back to unmade bed and tea/coffee not replenished. Hotel is central for hiking/walking and cycling the superb countryside.
