Overall, bad value for money. The building is very old, the room/bathroom smelled like sewage/mold, doors shut loudly, AC didn't work, the front office staff were not very helpful, and no grocery shops nearby. For the price I paid, I expected somethig better.

옥스포드 시내와는 먼 편이 아니여서 괜찮은 편이었습니다 하지만 호텔의 서비스는 호텔에 비해 떨어집니다 엘레베이터가 되는 곳만 있고 짐은 셀프로 갖고 올라가야하며 방은 사진과는 달리 너무 작았습니다 돈을 더 주고 큰 방을 했는데도 불구 하고 다른 호텔의 더블 방하고는 별 차이가 없었습니다 청결도는 깨끗한 편이었지만 호텔의 서비스라도 좀 신경을 쓴다면 훌륭한 호텔이 되지 않을까 합니다

We stayed in Oxford on one of the hottest weeks of the year. We were so lucky that we were staying in a separate building behind the hotel and had air conditioning. The rest of the hotel did not and this caused a lot of problems. Our room was nice - appeared to be accessible as lots of hand rails and emergency cord in shower. It was, however, very noisy. People above sounded like elephants! Be aware that there is a 12.5% service charge on drinks. This is not anywhere on the drinks menu. Staff very nice, although appeared to make life difficult fro themselves when they decided to tell guests that the air con was broken. Guests soon discovered there wasn't actually any air con to break! Nice location and easy access to Oxford.

Staff had limited interest and energy to assist at the front desk. Chief unsatisfactory aspect was no air conditioning and the summers there are sweltering. They gave us a fan that was not a help at all, particularly because the windows did not open more than an inch. The lack of air conditioning is no where on the web site. This did not seem like a four star hotel.

Unfortunately, I stayed one night on June 26th, in the heatwave. I checked in early and was put in a room (304) under the eaves. It was like an oven. I ran the two fans for an hour, which made no difference. I enquired about changing rooms, but the hotel was fully booked. Staff were as helpful as they could be - nothing they could really do. I did think there should have been more staff on duty: one person in Reception, running the bar in the lounge and fielding a stream of complaints about the heat was not enough. He was polite and tried his best but needed help. In hot weather, make sure you book a room in the newer parts of the hotel and insist on aircon - not fans. The small double eaves room would still have been warm even in winter, I think! But not unbearable, as it was that night.

Let's start with the positive things: The hotel is very conveniently located on a quiet alley off high street, 5' walk from the Bodleian library, and 2' walk from the Oxford airline and Tube bus stop. The staff are all very helpful and efficient. The place is generally clean although the carpet in the common areas could do with a renovation. Now the problematic ones. The rooms are small. I was expecting that given that the hotel is located in an historic building. However, the real issue is that the rooms are stuffy and hot during hot summer days. There is no air conditioning, and the room temperature goes from almost paradise (1st floor) to purgatory (2nd floor) and hell (3rd floor). Depending on what you are used to, sleeping can be problematic on the 2nd floor and impossible on the 3rd. Luckily the staff helped with a change of room and pairs of ventilators, including one filled with a bucket of ice that fitted the atmosphere quite well, even if it did not last long. Considering the cost per night, I was not expecting this kind of issue. Bottom line, avoid the place if the weather forecast is above 30 C.

I stayed for one night. It was hot. The air conditioner wasn't working, the windows barely opened, the curtains were very dirty, and it was literally hard to breathe. On top of that, the housekeeping lady tried to barge in three times during the morning. She first came in around 9:00 a.m.; later, I returned from breakfast and found her changing the bed linen—even though my personal belongings were still in the room. I asked her to leave. Apparently, that wasn't enough for her, as she came back again 30 minutes later, even though there was still an hour and a half left before check-out. When I mentioned this at the front desk, they were completely indifferent. I suppose this is their standard of service. It’s disappointing.

Det var en olidlig vistelse. Hälsofarligt hett på rummet. Fick en fläkt som inte gjorde jobbet. Att det inte finns A/C är katastrofalt dåligt. Inte ens ventilation fanns någonstans på hotellet. Obegripligt att endast restaurangdelen hade A/C på även när ingen var där. Katastrof

Insufferably hot. Our room had Aircon installed in the ceiling, but seemed to be decommissioned (blank control panel). Unpleasant drain smell. No actual bar, have to go to reception and request drinks from a drinks menu, 75% off which was unavailable. Too much penny pinching , Mercure!! On the plus side, fantastic location.

Staff were very nice but staying in the heatwave was a nightmare. The fans provided weren’t very effective (I had to ask for another one which was provided). The rooms were ok but a bit tired- but this is reflected in a reasonable price for central Oxford. I would stay there again for that reason.

No air con, no way to cool room in hot weather, no restaurant or room service, limited bar. Poor cleanliness outside hotel at back. Staff were helpful in difficult circumstances for them. Having happily used this hotel many times over the last 20 years we will not return until we hear of of changes to facilities or management

No AC in the middle of a heatwave. The room was 100 degrees. At $400 per night they need to figure out this issue. Absolutely miserable. Check in was 1.5 hours late. Terrible water pressure in shower. Only redeeming thing was great staff.

An extremely disappointing stay and not to be recommended. Stained sheets, no elevator (and no help from staff with luggage), no air conditioning and a heatwave mitigated by a disgustingly dusty fan with no alternative available. We returned to London a night early to avoid spending any more time at the hotel.
