Clean and tidy, good base for a break

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of December in the Warren room and it was so comfortable! Ziz was the perfect host, what a lovely place the Sheriff Lodge is, close to town and 5 mins from a lovely nearby pub for an evening meal. The breakfast was amazing with so much choice, the homemade granola topped with fruit was the best! Overall a wonderful place to stay and we will return in the summer. Thank you Ziz once again, kind regards Ian & Christine x

We had a beautiful stay at Sheriff Lodge. The room was spacious and comfortable and the entire lodge is well decorated with attention to detail including the music in the Drawing Room, information about the local area and amenities in guest rooms. Ziz was generous, helpful and knowledgeable and makes the most amazing breakfasts, as well as lovely coffee. The homely vibe makes the B&B unique and characterful. We would love to stay again

Just back after a week staying at Sheriff Lodge. On arrival we were met by the lovely owner, Ziz, who showed us to the lounge and gave us tea and cake, which was a thoughtful touch and most appreciated after our journey. We were then shown to our room, The Nest, a spacious room with an extremely comfortable 6 foot bed and large bathroom. The room is very well equipped, there is a powerful hairdrier, a fan, an electric heater, a Tassimo coffee maker and even a box of items which you may have forgotten. Breakfast was excellent every day, the fresh strawberries, blueberries and blackberries with yoghurt were delicious, so nice to have good quality fresh fruit rather than tinned prunes. Ziz cooks all breakfasts fresh and to order using local produce and they were all very moreish, the eggs benedict are a must, Ziz even makes her own hollandaise sauce (yummy), you do need a large appetite to finish the whole plate, so we shared one between 2. Ziz is a fountain of knowledge on the area, restaurants and places to visit and gives great recommendations and never makes you feel that you are keeping her from her jobs. Absolutely lovely place to stay.

Excellent loved hotel and matlock

Great location in Matlock. Easy walking distance of the town centre with great views. Loved the bedroom we had 'The Nest' and the breakfasts were absolutely scrummy.

We had a great time at the sheriff lodge. The room was nice and spacious and very comfortable. Ziz is a great host and makes an excellent breakfast and is very knowledgeable about the local area. You will enjoy your stay here!

I loved staying here. The host was lovely and accomodating. The house was beautiful and well looked after. Breakfast was fantastic. It is located up a steep hill so if you don't have a car and plan to walk with luggage I would recommend that you think about a taxi/ uber. Not far from town. Love restaurants and kind very close by and not far from Chatsworth house and other attractions. I highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful B&B in an excellent location for exploring The Peak District. Ziz, the owner was so welcoming and informative about the area. The breakfasts were amazing, my son wants to have his breakfast there every day! Would highly recommend

The room was very comfortable and spacious - can’t be faulted. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices to pick from. Our host was charming and very helpful and we would certainly recommend the Sheriff Lodge. Thumbs up all round.

Great location with off street parking. Walking distance to town so no need to pay for parking there. There was a lounge for people to sit and read. Rooms were bright and clean with little added extras like chocolates and emergency kits etc. Tea making facilities. Bed was huge. Afternoon tea with cake was provided. Host was friendly and helpful with recommendations. She also had discount vouchers to some of the sights & local restaurants. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our stay.

A last minute booking to celebrate my 50th with my wife, Arrived a little late but was greeted with a huge welcome. Room was exactly as explained , clean roomy, good shower , comfortable bed, tea/coffee on hand, even a few chocolates. WiFi good. quiet environment and just what we needed. The landlady Ziz (sorry if spelt wrong) was amazing, my wife ended up having a most enjoyable conversation the next day with her and she loved it. Totally helped make my birthday perfect. Only ,istake was on our part eating at Weatherspoon's (me being tight) we should have followed Ziz's advice. Bed was massive and comfortable. Breakfast...we are both vegetarian but to be honest it was massive and lovely Ziz had vegetarian sausage and other stuff in , unlike a lot of larder hotels I use.
