We hadden een driepersoonskamer geboekt, maar die bleek in feite een al krappe tweepersoonskamer te zijn waarin een extra bed was bijgezet. Dat ‘bed’ was niet meer dan een smalle strandstretcher met een matrasje van hooguit twee centimeter dik. Slapen daarop lukte alleen als je stil op je rug bleef liggen. Uiteindelijk heeft onze dochter het grootste deel van de nacht op het randje van ons tweepersoonsbed doorgebracht. De kamer was zo vol dat we onze koffers in de badkamer moesten neerzetten. Gezien de forse kamerprijs – 232 pond; ik geloof niet dat we ooit in zo’n duur hotel hebben gezeten – was dat een flinke teleurstelling. Positief was het diner: een vriendelijke kok en bediening, en echt goed eten. Ook de ligging is prettig: het hotel (eigenlijk: een pub met kamers) ligt in een leuk dorp, met een parkeerterrein op loopafstand. De hond uitlaten ging prima; je kunt een mooi rondje door het dorp lopen zonder voortdurend te hoeven uitkijken voor gehaaste automobilisten. De bejegening door het personeel was wisselend: bij het in- en uitchecken waren ze niet erg vriendelijk, het team in het restaurant daarentegen wel. Al met al geen goede prijs-kwaliteitverhouding.

Clean room, very friendly staff

A lovely stay. Delicious breakfast. Our room was lovely and cosy and quiet, the bed was quite small. Battle os a lovely town.

I have stayed here a few times and have always had a good stay. The staff are very friendly, and the food is very good and the rooms have everything you need. I was asked if I wanted to change my room when I arrived as the one I booked had a bath and another room was free with a shower, this was done without me asking, although I was not fussed but changed rooms anyway.

Nice room, well located, friendly staff and lovely breakfast

Very convenient location opposite the abbey and it is a nice pub with friendly staff and good breakfast, but the traffic noise is loud (in the rooms facing the abbey) and the mattress had lost almost all padding on one side, the chair in the room was badly stained which would put me off returning. I know they can't do anything about the traffic noise, but they could replace the mattress and chair and provide complimentary earplugs, especially in the summer when the windows need to be open.

This was a fun place to stay while visiting the battle field. The village was very interesting with many small shops. The room appeared to be recently renovated and staying above a pub was a fun experience. The pub itself was also excellent. Our only complaint was lack of air conditioning...which resulted in us opening a window...and listening to traffic (the road out front is very busy) All-in-all, I would strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area

We booked room 2 for £160, they moved us without telling us to a room at the back of the hotel for £150, but wouldn’t give back the £10 back. Apart from that everything was fine.

The staff were very helpful and accommodating and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

A lovely village hotel straight across from Battle Abbey!

Lovely little hotel, very lovely staff. Everything was lovely, but odd smell in main areas,?? Carpet is very old.

Mysigt boende med bra restaurang och pub. Trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Hotellet ligger med bekvämt avstånd till olika sevärdheter som t.ex The Buttle & Hastings Stad m.m.

Such a beautiful pub with comfortable rooms. Staff were ever so welcoming and the room was spacious and clean. Was very surprised with my stay there even though it was just for one night. The breakfast was amazing too, cooked to order!

A friendly welcome, a comfortable bed, a fabulous breakfast! The room was pretty small (it was difficult to get round the bed) but the shower room was a decent size and the shower was very good.

No free parking.

Nice room, but slightly noisy traffic at night.

When im working in Hastings will always stay here, service is friendly, rooms have character and the food is always good.
