Terrible place, didn't look the reviews as I would have never gone there, warn out materials, smells bad, nothing good. WARNING!!! Stay away...

They shouldn’t advertise things what doesn’t exist

Sea view perfect having the lift to the promenade great! Hotel has had a light touch refurb but needs more updating to a more modern standard as expected these days.

Everything was perfect apart from we got up to late for breakfast and couldn't get a coffee. But there was a little coffee shop in the hotel next door open so not the end of the world. Kettle in the room would've been nice but wouldn't put me off staying again. Good value for money.

Rooms were average Breakfast- super delayed , all dishes were dirty- not just one or two. We stayed for two nights , both the mornings the breakfast was so delayed and they couldn’t manage the number of guests. The staff tried their best to give us good service but there was only so much they could. Poor management Wouldn’t recommend to stay here

Great views from the bedroom towards the sea (apart from the infamous Shanklin lift shaft). Sun rise while lying in bed was fantastic to see. Staff were great and the food was good. Although some areas were a little worn and could do with a bit of TLC, it was very clean and tidy.

The Ocean View Hotel is in a good location, but unfortunately the property itself feels extremely dated and in need of a full refurbishment. The hotel looks very old, and most of the amenities are worn down from years of use. Furnishings, décor, and fittings appear tired and outdated, which takes away from what could otherwise be a pleasant stay. While the views and location are nice, the overall condition of the hotel does not meet modern expectations. A complete renovation would greatly improve the comfort, appearance, and overall guest experience. As it stands, the hotel feels neglected and does not offer good value for money.

Parking is on an if your lucky basis, when we arrived we were told the swimming pool was closed until summer, this was not mentioned when booking on Hotels.com platform this was the very reason we booked therefore mis selling We were also told no chef this evening so no food, the entertainment offered was outside in the garden stage which means you have to listen to it even if you don’t want to Thursday was Jules Nelson who wasn’t too bad but on Saturday it was an act that had Cyrus in his name his sets were so loud and his tracks full of bass dreadful noise unfortunately, even when we shut the balcony door and window it could still be heard, a pointer to the fact that Ocean View Hotel is very old and tired and in desperate need for updating, we will be looking at some kind of refund for not being told about the fact that certain amenities like swimming were not available overall disappointing to say the least we travel to the island on business every week however we will not be booking into this hotel again

Parking was easy as the hotel was empty. The pool was closed and this was an important part of the decision to stay there so very disappointing. The view was incredible and the best part. Breakfast waitress was excellent and very attentive. Very helpful chap on duty in the evening as well. Lovely cooked breakfast and croissants. Weird balcony set up left me concerned, as our bathroom window was inside next doors balcony area and not ours!! I think this was only our room though? Very close to town and pubs and shops..

The hotel is currently under renovation but the work did not interrupt the stay. The room was clean and adaquate, but things like the curtains and carpets need attention. The staff were very helpful and polite. There weren’t many people staying there so it was very quiet and easy to park, but I should imagine parking would be difficult in peak season as spaces were very limited compared to the size of the hotel. The bar was well stocked, but the bar area/room needed decorating. The hotel is in a very convenient position with lovely sea views. I would stay there again.

Avoid at all costs.

We recently stayed at The Ocean View Hotel from 13th–15th February and unfortunately were very disappointed with our experience. We chose this hotel specifically because of the facilities advertised on the website, including a swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, evening dining, jazz club with cocktail bar, and the daily “Happy Hour” promotion. These amenities were a major factor in booking what we hoped would be a relaxing weekend break. However, on arrival—and throughout our stay—we discovered that the swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, and evening dining were all closed. There had been no prior notice of these closures on the website or in our booking confirmation email. To make matters more frustrating, there were posters displayed around the hotel advertising “Happy Hour” from 4–6pm daily, despite the bar not being open. Breakfast was also an additional charge, and while convenient, we found that far better quality and more reasonably priced breakfast options were available just a short walk away in the town centre. The lack of communication felt misleading, as the facilities advertised were simply not available. Had we known in advance, we would likely have chosen alternative accommodation. While the stay itself may suit guests who only require a room, (if you don’t mind a bed without a headboard), we feel the hotel should be transparent about which amenities are operational. Clear and accurate information would help manage expectations and avoid disappointment.

Staff were very courteous and welcoming... unfortunately being a little out of season, the swimming pool was closed, as was the bar... breakfasts were plentiful. The rooms were comfortable but could do with a little more wall art to make it a bit more appealing. This was a more noticeable for the bathroom, more colour to brighten it up. Overall, the hotel is spacious and I'm sure during the season period very lively. Would recommend staying here, as the location is ideal for the beach and town.

Yes all amazing

Awesome hotel clearly in need of renovations but we loved the view and it suited our purpose for the price. The waiter at breakfast and hotel receptionist were friendly and welcoming. Check in and parking no problem.
