A fantastic place to stay for a few nights. A great base to explore the Peak District with a good bus link to the area. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Food was much better than expected for pub food. Breakfast included was a perfect size and all local produce. We stayed for one night, got the bus into Castleton and back to see a concert in Devils Arse. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay and would thoroughly recommend

Great stay, the room was well presented, warm and cosy. The staff, friendly. The meals in the pub, excellent. Breakfast in the tea room was also 1st class.
On our second night, we went to the pubs sister pub, The Anchor, and listened to the folk club. Absolutely brilliant. We will be back.

Fantastisk og charmerende. Og hundevenligt. Men selvom for folk der ikke havde hund (som mig) var det også fint. Jeg blev ikke generet af de andre hunde. Og der var så mange fine gamle og skæve ting at kigge på. Rigtigt dejligt originalt og autentisk britisk.

The staff were polite and friendly. The food was lovely, they were the only positives. The stairway to the rooms had a fusty/musty smell and in need of decorating, paint rubbed off the woodwork. The carpet could do with a good clean at least or replacing.
The room was tiny with patches of wallpaper missing and cramped. There was constant loud music coming up through the ceiling even though the bar area was quiet. I could hear it while wearing headphones listening to podcasts on my phone at full volume. The staff advised when I complained that it was the kitchen staff playing music directly below and did get them to stop.
Definitely not worth the price charged.

We stayed for 2 nights in a family room, our room was small for 4 people but had everything we needed. The sofa bed wasnt the best, however we asked for a 2nd duvet to put ontop of the mattress and they were bmvery obliging and helpful. The staff are very courteous and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotlessly clean. The kids loved the sweets left for them. The filter coffee in the room was a really nice touch. We ate in the restaurant the 1st evening and the food was very nice and service good. The breakfast was really nice and is cooked to order. Again service was fabulous. The 2nd evening we went to the curry cabin for a meal and we had a lovely meal. Food and service again was great. Was nice to see everywhere so busy.

Hotel is in amazing Peak District area. Located above the pub but we wasnt bothered about any noice. Room and amenities are a bit dated but its comfy and pleasant. Its great for the location.

Staff very welcoming and pub busy due to arrival of off road bikers and a motor cycle group- who remained outside and were no problem.As only pub open a number of locals and small folk music group present. Room a bit dark as property very old and en-suite rather basic. Carpets on stairs to rooms need replacing. Breakfast was limited due a problem however again staff very good.

We had a lovely stay this week in this hotel. Room was clean. They had a fire going virtually all day downstairs so we ate there both nights. Lovely food. Staff very friendly

Great little pub and restaurant with tea rooms annexed (that also do a breakfast). The noise from the bar travelled up but thats to be expected.
