Beautiful views Great freshly cooked breakfast

Nice hotel. Comfortable and spacious room. Nice facility and great location

The full Cumbrian breakfast was swimming in fat, with rockhard poached eggs. The next day when I specifically said I didn't want anything fried, all grilled, it wasn't too bad.

We have stayed here a few times in the past but not for about three years now. Sadly, we were very disappointed . The service used to be exceptional. I asked for a quiet room as we are very light sleepers - we were kept aware by the kitchen fan at the back of our room and the noise from the reception desk. We had lunch there and the prawn skewers were bland and tasteless. The breakfast buffet selection was poor, however the hot meals were very good. The service was dire, staff were stood around chatting and we had to go and ask for our order to be taken. We were not asked if we would like toast and again had to ask for it. When the waitress brought some she did not think to take our dirty plates away. Also, I notified the manager on arrival that the hand cream in the ladies toilet had run out and it was still empty on departure. Unsure if we would return and we have spent many happy breaks there in the past.

It is a lovely property. Well positioned. They need to ventilate the bathrooms better. Other than that great.

Room was nice. Food was good. Some issues. Toilet kept running had to keep pressing the button to get it to stop. Room was advertised as a king bed, instead got two singles pushed together. Some things on the breakfast buffet weren't refilled from the day before.

Just enjoyed an excellent 2 night stay at The Royal. Booked on recommendations from friends. Set right in the middle of KL, so fantastic location. No carpark, but we had no trouble parking as the general car parks to the front and rear of the hotel and ampld places to park overnight around the hotel. We did have to be mindful of moving the car throughout the day, due to timecrestrictions on car parks and our visit was off peak in January. Not sure how easy parking would be throughout the rest of the year? Arrived to a lovely warm welcome at The Royal. Rooms were ready prior to check-in time, so we were able to access them early. Very warm, comforting Hotel. Little quirky, which we love. Loved the little lounge with comfy leather seats and roaring fire, in particular. Rooms were clean, well-maintained and very comfortable. Clean white linen. Great shower. If anything, a little dark, therefore a bit difficult to apply makeup etc - but, that was the only little niggle of the whole stay. Breakfast - great choice, lovely quality. Service - quick, polite, very attentive and with humour! Check out - Again, quick, polite. Stayed with elderly parents to celebrate an important birthday and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our time here! No stay is perfect, so it took a visit from the manager to get the heating working, but after that it was a cosy room and a welcoming hotel after a day's walking and sightseeing. The staff were all friendly and professional, and they were all happy to engage with the guests. Kirkby is a lovely little town, with a delightful river walk and some little alleyways and old houses. We had a room at tge front so woke each morning to views of the hills of the Dales bathed in sunshine. Glorious!!!
