Food was excellent, hosts were amazing and welcoming.

One night stay, very comfortable and clean room. Kitchen was closed on evening of our stay but we were able to order in food. Nice breakfast.

Excellent - friendly hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are clean and way above the star listing in terns of facilities. There is a pub below the accommodation but there is no issue with noise. The food is very good quality and plenty of ir. This pace is my ‘go to’ on business to the North East

A really nice friendly place to stay offering a warm welcome, very nice, spotlessly clean en suite comfortable rooms, at truly amazing prices, which include a fantastic breakfast. The inn also provides good wholesome food all day. I thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay to break your journey en route to Scotland.

Set in lovely countryside views, owners & staff all veey friendly & helpful, fabulous choice of breakfasts, meals available during evening also with a varied menu including gluten free. No hesitation in recommending The Royal Oak for any length of stay, wish we could have stayed for longer!!!!

Husband & Wife landlords. Made me feel very welcome. Well kept bar, room was excellent and breakfast plentiful and set me up for the day. 100% would recommend and will stay again

Food was good and our room was very good apart from the en-suite door which was very dirty both sides, it hasn’t been painted so all dirt soaks in. It needs a towel hook inside the en-suite. If that door was clean, our stay would have been perfect.

Lovely welcome by staff. Nice evening meal & breakfast. Shower is amazing in room 3. Would book again. Some building work going on round the back but this won't last forever.

3rd time stopping here, nice clean rooms, great bar, superb home cooked foods, awesome breakfast which was allowed to be pre orderd for 7 30 which is always a bonus when u have a busy day. Will stay again.

Lovely authentic County Durham country stay. Walks into the woods and horses right opposite the pub. Warm welcome, nice people. The pub opens at 4pm so you can get a drink or sit outside if the weather is right. Reasonable prices on the drinks. All good. I would stay again. Thank you!

Exceptional hospitality. Staff were particularly friendly and attentive. Location suited us - not too far from Durham city centre, but particularly convenient for our visits to Beamish and Tanfield Railway. Room was clean and well-appointed. Food was amazing! Superb breakfast with good choice. Dinner menu was unbelievable (not available on Sunday evening. Highly recommended.

Great place for an overnight stay. Friendly staff upon coming, lots of drinks choices and food was delicious.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Royal Oak. Food can be ordered in the evening until 8pm and the menu is extensive and good value. We received a friendly welcome at this family run inn. The full english breakfast was delicious and included in our room price which made it very good value. The bedroom was large with a fairly new ensuite shower and toilet. There are woods across the road where we walked our dog. 15 mins to Durham made it perfect for our needs. I am sure we will return. The parking is on the street outside the front.

Beautiful lovely property, only quibble was a short wait to check in, reasonable though as was busy.
