Westgate Hotel

Delightful, friendly welcoming manager. Small budget hotel slap bang next to the main railway station. Only hitch: noisy construction work late into the night.

The staff are very friendly. One of the owners got us a map and showed us all the places of interest to go to in Oxford. I liked how close we were to the centre. All in all a lovely place to stay

Very friendly helpful staff. Worth paying for the lovely cooked breakfast.

Kan ikke anbefale. Lille og nusset, det trak fra vinduerne og var koldt. Vejarbejde der vækkede os ude foran som de gav besked om kort før opholdet selvom det har været igang i et år. Billeder er misvisende. Toilettet lugtede af kloak.

The Annex rooms are quiet. Great for working.

Hotel itself was as expected: nice, cozy and tradional. Absolutely fabulous was the staff: professional, efficient and at the same time warm and caring of their guests and their needs. Elderly people were treated well. I recommend to be in contact with this hotel in advance, because there are many different kind of rooms available for variable preferences.

Passamos uma noite e tivemos uma excelente estadia, hotel antigo e simples, mas muito bem localizado e com uma equipe simpática e prestativa. Precisávamos pegar o trem logo cedo antes do café da manhã e fizeram a gentileza de deixar nos servir antes de sair. Importante salientar que o acesso aos quartos é feito por escadas, se estiver com mala grande pode ser um inconveniente

Lovely family run hotel in central location. It’s was a bit underwhelming from the outside but the garden is beautiful and the we enjoyed the hospitality. Breakfast was very nice. We will definitely go back next time we travel in Oxford.

Was in the annex which was good as a late night. Have to go to main hotel for breakfast

Great location, great options for breakfast, only downside was a little small.

This is in a very convenient location, unfortunately there are noisy roadworks at the moment and the kitchen was being renovated during my stay, so there was not a cooked breakfast.

This hotel is next to the train station so you will hear and see the trains from your window. There are steep stairs and no lift so I would recommend not bringing any big or heavy luggage. The breakfast is just toast, cereal (only Kellogs products), yogurt, fruit and juice (coffee and tea of course), but if you want anything hot you have to pay extra (for example, Heinz beans on toast will cost you about $5; if you want eggs with bacon and sausage be prepared to pay about $13). It is located on a very busy street and there will be a constant stream of people walking by all day. It is about a fifteen minute walk to the Westgate shopping center on the south end of town, and another fifteen minutes to the central part of town (such as the covered market). It seemed quite expensive for the type of room you get, but Oxford is an expensive city to begin with. Parking is available acrossthe street for about $16 a day.

The property was clean. For the annexe property where three rooms were sharing 1.5 toilets/bathroom it was exceptionally maintained with great cleanliness standards.

Although there was road works, the place was easy to access. No lift in Annex which was tough with 6 bags on top floor. Will the manager was outstanding. I would go back given his hospitality and guest service. Seemed a happy place where staff were chatty and happy.

Was on a business trip and was perfect for a basic overnight stay. It's an old hotel and an old building which is part of it's charm.

I stayed in separate building down the street. Small rooms with shared toilet and shower. It was nice enough. The staff were excellent. The area is under heavy construction so alternative parking was needed. But this was arranged. Breakfast was very nice, a free option with ability to buy more. Road closures made getting to hotel difficult but detailed instructions were provided and they worked well. This is a modest but affordable place within easy walking distance of the University.

This is a nice affordable lodging. The staff were great and accommodating. I stayed in the annex, a building down the street. Small spartan room with shared toilet and shower. It worked out well for me (might need to bring shampoo). The breakfast was good. There is a lot of construction around the building making parking and getting to the hotel difficult. But I was given excellent instructions before arrival and that was enough.

Sympathique, situé près de la gare, à environ 20 minutes de quelques centres d’intérêt. Hôtel vieillot mais fort bien entretenu. Personnel avenant. On accède aux deux étages de chambres par un escalier à pic et très étroit, le transport des bagages à la chambre n’est donc pas de tout repos.
