I recently stayed at the Grand Eastern Hotel in Labasa and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I booked for two nights but had to check out a day early due to a serious maintenance issue. The bathroom hand basin pipe was damaged and leaking continuously, creating a loud noise that made it impossible for my family to sleep. I reported the problem to staff immediately, but was told tojust leave it leaking. The next morning, I raised the issue again and a worker came to inspect, but when I asked him to return later while we were out, nothing was done. By the time we returned at 5 p.m., the leak was still unresolved. This lack of action forced me to check out early. At check-out, I explained the situation to a female staff member, but all she said was “ok” — no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and no effort to make things right. For a hotel that presents itself as a reputable establishment, this level of service is unacceptable. Guests expect basic maintenance issues to be addressed promptly and staff to show courtesy when problems arise. The constant noise, sleepless night, and dismissive attitude from staff left a very negative impression. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the property itself has potential, but the service and responsiveness need significant improvement. Until then, I cannot recommend this hotel to others.
