With the exception of the loud music coming from multiple day visitors the property was well maintained over the years… last visited 20 years ago. The staff were friendly and very helpful, food and ambience was top shelf compared to the other resorts and hotels in Georgetown. Add this to your list when visiting Guyana.

I booked a Lakeview Cinderella cottage and was given a Cinderella cottage in the back of the resort. MAINSTAY, for the love of god, you cannot expect to charge the prices you do and not have proper air conditioning in your rooms. The windows in Cinderella Cottage are wooden louvers with a tiny mesh covering there is no way the AC would get that cottage remotely cool because the windows are not properly secure. You need to make this CLEAR on your page Temperatures in Guyana are close to 100 degrees and individuals who have extenuating health conditions depend on air conditioning to help alleviate their symptoms especially if your asthmatic as I am. I had heard so many great things about MAINSTAY but was extremely disappointed with the service. When we checked in, the individual at the front desk was very monotone and did not inform me or remind me of my resort credit. In the morning the pleasant woman then informed me of the resort credit. She was accommodating I wished I had her name to give her flowers. BUT if this is your best hospitality I sure do not want to know your worst.

Great staff and a lovely resort. I really enjoyed my visit

The roads leading to the resort are ridiculously horrible. They need to invest some money on that.The layout of the property was nice for the most part. The proximity of the public toilets to the cabin is not ideal. The fact that you have to pay for every meal was disappointing, especially given the long wait time for food to be prepared. A complimentary breakfast would have made the world of difference. The staff definitely makes up for the short comings of the resort. Big shout out and thank you to Carlos.
