This place is really in the middle of nowhere, but if you are heading east by the south coast, then it's perfect. We stayed here first stay after we arrived and it met our needs well. There is no staff. They give a code to the main door and code to your room. The room has the necessities. It's a no-frills simple suitable stay.

The hotel was clean and bed was comfortable. It’s a great location. Last night the sweetest man knocked on our door and let us know to go outside and see the northern lights. He worked there. He went above and beyond to make sure we didn’t miss this spectacular view and was very kind, funny, and polite.

We had a wonderful three-night stay at the Black Beach Guesthouse. The self-check-in process was super easy, and we really appreciated the location in Þorlákshöfn — just about an hour from Reykjavík and the airport.
On our first night, we took a short walk to the local community recreation center, where a kind local recommended a nearby spot called Thai Sakhon. We gave it a try, and the food was great!
During our stay, we went on several day trips — to Diamond Beach (about 4.5 hours away), Vík (around 2 hours), and Selfoss (only 20 minutes). We usually got back late, but one night we discovered another great restaurant right next to Thai Sakhon called Super1pizza. We ended up chatting with a friendly local there who told us about life in Iceland — it was such a nice, unexpected highlight of our trip.
The area around the guesthouse felt safe and welcoming, even though it’s in a slightly industrial part of town. Þorlákshöfn itself is quiet but easy to walk around. We loved spotting Icelandic horses near the water by the local church (about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse), and the Krónan grocery store just a few minutes away was super convenient.
Our room was simple, clean, and comfortable — exactly what we needed after long days of exploring. The guesthouse only provides soap (no shampoo) and doesn’t have a common area or lobby, but that’s typical for guesthouses and didn’t bother us at all.
Overall, our stay was relaxing, comfortable, and a perfect base for exploring

Very clean and comfortable. Lovely and warm. Small but functional for a short stay. Go to Heima Bistro, 2 mins walk away for tasty Icelandic fish and ships and an incredibly warm welcome

Parfait pour une nuit. Notre chambre avait sa propre salle de bain. Tout était très propre, bonne literie. Une bouilloire + un petit frigo à disposition si besoin.
Attention, pas de cuisine !
Endroit calme. Pas de voisins bruyants pour nous.
Vous trouverez un Kronan market pas loin ainsi qu’un Super1pizza à 5 minutes à pieds (les pizzas y sont très bonnes).

Check in was terrible. check in instructions were not provided and contacting the owner was impossible as a tourist with an eSIM. Mini fridge was not cleaned out from previous guests. Cleanliness needed improvement. Beds were very comfortable. Continent and affordable accommodation.

Very clean and comfortable property. It is however in an industrial estate which is slightly strange setting for a good property. 10 minutes aways is a lovely black sand beach howeve and it is a good location for exploring the peninsula

Værelset var fint og let at komme ind med den tilsendte kode. Rent.
Der var dog meget varmt om natten og det lod sig ikke gøre at åbne vinduerne tilstrækkeligt så der kunne komme luftcirkulation.

Disperso nel nulla. Offre check in automatico. Purtroppo a noi è capitata la camera con bagno dedicato a persone portatrici di handicap e a mio avviso avrebbero dovuto indicarlo n la prenotazione. Inoltre avevano dimenticato di svuotare il cestino in bagno dai clienti precedenti. Non ci tornerei
