A slightly mixed bag. The staff is friendly, especially the front desk & the local tour organizers. Food is a little tasteless, but healthy. Location is great. Resort is clean. Most staff speak only Malayalam. Parking is off site. Very inconvenient. Intercom works in parts. the restaurant timings are very restricted. Imagine no dinner after 10 evening. Wow.. And we were on a holiday..

One big disappointment - I booked a beach cottage with sea facing view and paid a premium for it but we got a room which didnt have any sea view and it was some distance from Sea. In fact some of the cheaper room had better sea view. Overall property is good and service is nice

Abbiamo soggiornato in periodo di bassa stagione ad un prezzo eccezionale nel cottage sulla spiaggia. Niente tv nè wifi solo il rumore delle onde e al mattino qualche tacchino che girava libero all'ombra delle palme. Il servizio impeccabile, ristorante economico ma di alta qualità! Se volete wifi 24/24 meglio soggiornare nelle abitazioni sopra e non sulla spiaggia ma il mio consiglio personale è di spegnere tutto per qualche giorno e lasciarvi cullare totalmente da questo angolo di natura.

Fantastisk! Som å komme hjem! Så avslappende og hyggelig hadde vi ikke ant at vi kunne få det. Vennligheten og hjelpsomheten er helt i en klasse for seg! Og maten.... Herremin, så nydelig! Konseptet er økologisk, så her er det for eksempel ikke avkjølt vann, og aircondition bare på enkelte rom. Men man trenger ikke hverken det ene eller det andre lærte vi oss veldig fort. Vi kommer aldri mer til å spise avkjølt fruktsalat, når romtemperert smaker som sol i hver munnfull. Våre tre dager ble til to uker, og kanskje enda lenger. Anbefales på det sterkeste!

The hotel has two distinctly in two locations- one, on high grounds, and the other, nearer to sea. We stayed at the sea. Location is amazing with a wonderful sea view. Round the clock roaring waves makes it awesome. Coconut trees and a variety of other plants render an excellent garden as well. A well maintained lawn and a variety of orchids compel you to lie on hammocks for ever. Rooms are ethnic, spacious and neat. Staff quite courteous and helpful. Food is homely, makes you eat more and more. Overall, it is just good to be away from the routine urban crowds to be in this serene place.

Location was awesome...just 30mins frm trivendrum airport, 5 mins frm kovalam and 90kms frm kanyakumari. resort is very close to the beach. We booked Old House rooms which were small yet comfortable. Staff is very cordial and friendly. Food is good but expensive. They can make arrangements for your travel massage and anything you need. If you are going to relax for a few days, Thapovan is the best palce to rejuvenate.

It was a perfect retreat for me. The treatments and yoga were just what I needed to relax after some stressful weeks at work, the food was excellent and the staff very friendly. They really looked after me. I would happily recommend the resort, the beach, the location and would come back another time. The lack of tv and internet are actually a blessing in disguise. After this, I went to Kovalam Beach which is the complete opposite. So glad I stayed at Thapovan.

Thapovan was one of the most beautiful places I've stayed at in Kerala. We had booked an Eagle's Nest room with the beach view and it was a great stay. The hotel staff is very co-operative and warm. They did their best to make sure our stay was comfortable. Do try the Ayurvedic massages here. The masseuse are very skilful and having tried massages all over the world, I'd say the one at Thapovan was the best. Very relaxing. The private beach, the food, the ambience - Thapovan has all the elements for a great holiday. Thank you.

Lovely hotel & resort, split into 2 sites - the cheaper rooms are on a separate site, a 2 min walk downhill (5 mins uphill!!) from the more expensive beachside cottages on the 2nd site. Top site has better views, and a nicer restaurant. Nice private beach with friendly lifeguard, although sea was rough so no swimming. Had an ayuverdic massage which was a real experience... Yoga session in the morning was a fantastic start to the day. All in all, just what we needed :)

That's a kind of a hotel I like-it's as if inside a jungle..I didn't expect I find such a place near Kovalam.

Das Hotel ist besonders für Arjuvedabegeisterte empfehlenswert, es hat einen entsprechenden "Kurbereich" und ist darauf spezialisiert . Wir waren eher zum generellen Entspannen da und hatten ein einfaches Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage gebucht , das im Verhältnis zur sonst gepflegten und sehr ansprechenden Anlage etwas abfiel. Ein Pool wäre gut gewesen, insbesondere weil das Schwimmen im Meer häufig zu gefährlich war. Zum recht netten Kovalam Strand gelangt man ab per Scooter für wenig Geld in ca 15 min. Das Essen im hübschen Terassenrestaurant war gut, der Service aber sehr schleppend. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist nicht so gut, insbesondere da im Zimmerpreis kein Frühstück enthalten war. Die Zweiteilung des Hotels in Strandnähe und Berglaget ist suboptimal, aber zumutbar.

magnifique hôtel dans une nature luxuriante, une jolie chambre avec vue exceptionnelle sur les jardins, plus bas la mer et des massages ayurvédiques faits avec une réel savoir faire. Très propre et le personnel très à l'écoute. Je reviendrai !

Impression très mitigée car je pensais qu'il s'agissait d'un hôtel sur la plage ! en fait pas vraiment car la plage est impraticable à cause des courants. On ne peut se baigner que sous la surveillance d'un vigile. Quelques transats sont disponibles mais vraiment d'une époque très lointaine...Pas de clim, pas de bouilloire, pas de télé , pas de moustiquaires aux fenêtres...donc on dort enfermés et ce n'est pas agréable. Pas de piscine non plus dans les espaces communs...Cela ne peut donc pas être un 3 étoiles car il n'a aucun des critères minimum...même si les jardins sont très beaux et bien entretenus ...!

accueil gentil, professionnel et charmant, chambre très propre et spacieuse, jardins et points de vue magnifiques, plage privée, cuisine succulente à prix derisoire, et les massages..... ! Tout pres de kovalam, mais en evitant la cohue des touristes.. On etait juste bien :)

This is our 2nd time to stay here and we love it. The place is beautiful and serene and the service is excellent. The beach is clean and we think the food is great. Remember to ask them for the Ayurvedic menu. We look forward to returning as soon as we can.

Tapovan was an excellent resort for family vacation. Beach facing rooms, you can walk into the beach from room. Food was good, reasonably priced for a resort of this type. It is about 6 km from Kovalam beach
