Lovely little rustic property with a private pool which was just a delight on a hot day. All clean and tidy and serviced every day if you wanted. The team were exceptional - super friendly and nothing was too much trouble, be it advice on where to go, or how much things should cost for a transfer. Would recommend.

We loved our stay here. It was quiet and the staff was very responsive and friendly. We enjoyed having our own pool and the space was beautiful. We LOVED having our own hot/cold 5 gallon water available to us in our suite.

Had the most amazing stay at Villa Sama Lama!! There are only x4 villas in the lot, and it's away from the main "entrance" of the island at the port so you feel so peaceful and secluded. The villa came with a it's own private pool, outdoor kitchenette, "living room" and sun loungers then a king sized bedroom, huge bathroom inside. It's walkable from the port, only about 20 mins and you will be greeted with a welcome drink and fresh watermelon by the lovely staff. Local beach and cafes etc are within a 5 mins walk. Staff were always so friendly and attentive throughout the stay, couldn't ask for more. Would definitely recommend if you want a little slice of paradise in Gili Air :)

I had an amazing solo stay at Villa Samalama. The villa itself was spacious and beautiful. I opted for the breakfast option and the pineapple and banana pancakes were delicious along with the fresh juice. The pool was very nice and the villa has a cute little outdoor garden as well. The staff was wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure I had a pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again.

The villa is amazing with a private pool and a great palm trees view, 5m walk to the beach. There's plenty of room outside next to the pool and in the seating area with a fan. Room has good airconditioning. Bathroom is spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and caring - e.g. bring fresh coconuts every day, clean the villa daily, always welcome you with a smile. There is a great lolal restaurant (Warung zZz) 5m walk with amazing indonesian food, plus plenty of beach bars, restaurants and ATM. We definitely recommend the place and would stay here again next time.

Otroligt mysigt ställe, helt insynsskyddat i din egna lilla oas. Personalen är fantastisk och själva ön underbar! Det enda smolket i bägaren är att ett ”bönetorn” ligger nära, så man hör böneutropet ganska tydligt, men inget som störde oss. Vi rekommenderar detta ställe varmt!

Great villa! We loved the private space we had in the “garden” and the private pool. It’s a quiet place with no loud music or noisy bars nearby. We got to loan bicycles for free that we used every day to explore the island. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Could be good to know that the bathroom is partly open, so no air condition and some mosquitos (we were there during rain season). We really enjoyed that the staff came to the villa’s outdoor kitchen to cook breakfast for us. I can really recommend this place.

We loved staying at this rustic type self contained villa. Had our own pool and they came and cooked breakfast for us every morning. The staff were so sweet and helpful, really loved this place.

En fantastisk fin vistelse i denna härliga oas. Ett boende lite utöver det vanliga med en egen ingång, omgärdad uteplats med härlig privatpool och utekök med minibar. Stort sovrum och badrum med fräck design. Cyklar att låna för utflykt. Nära till fina bad och snorkling. Hjälpsam och serviceminded personal. Extra guldkant är att personalen kommer till vårt utekök och lagar frukosten där efter önskemål-lyxigt tyckte vi. Viktigt att underhållet efterhålls så kommande gäster får njuta av denna helhet.

What's not to like? An excellent service and a beautifull, private villa.

Wow what an amazing three night stay at Villa Samalama - we were cared for by the greatest staff on the island and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and there are plenty of restaurants within a 3 minute walk for lunch, sunset and dinner.

I stayed in Villa Samalama for 3 nights and it was a gorgeous place to stay. Staff come to your villa in the morning and cook your breakfast in your outdoor kitchen, and the breakfasts were delicious! The beach is a 3 minute walk from the villa, and they also provide bikes free of charge which were so fun to explore this tiny, beautiful island. The only down sides of the villas was that the shower was cold all 3 nights, and facilities are very basic. However, you get loads of space to yourself and the stay was peaceful and relaxing throughout, waking up to the sound of the call to prayer and the bells on the horse and traps. Paradise!

Nous sommes allés au mois de septembre. Accueil sympathique avec un cocktail de bienvenue. Nous avions pris une villa avec piscine privée. Grande chambre propre et calme. Lit assez grands et confortables. Deux vélos fournis très pratique pour visiter toute l’ile. Accès internet très bien depuis la chambre. Petit déjeuner inclus, excellent et fait devant vous- Personnel adorable. Bémol, l’eau de la douche n’est pas très chaude, mais je pense que c’est général sur Gili Air. Attention, si vous avez des valises lourdes, il faudra utiliser une charrette à cheval, car la villa est à l’opposé du port.

All of the staff at Villa Samalama were absolutely lovely and so very helpful. The accommodation was thoughtful and beautiful, the garden and pool area was especially well done. Beautiful flowers everywhere - I can’t recommend them highly enough!

The Villas Samalama are close to the north end of Gili Air ie the opposite end from the town and where the ferry comes in (RPI 150k horse and cart ride). This end of the island is quieter. The Villas are about 10 mins from the beach and have a few excellent indonesian restaurants nearby with other more international restaurants and bars on the beach. The villas each have a private compound and pool which really added to our privacy and space. First impressions of the Villa were that it was in need of some love and care. While being clean inside, the outside decking was wharped and faded, as was the woodwork and doors at the front. Also note the bathroom is effectively open to the outside. Breakfast is cooked to order in the villas outside kitchen (there are no ‘central’ cooking facilities). Choice was limited to fruit and how you wanted your eggs cooked, and none of them were done very well. Having said that the staff were very helpful, especially Jack, who spoke pretty good english. Overall I would say the villas were expensive compared with similar properties on Bali, but i don’t know how they compare with other properties on Gili Air. With a bit of superficial exterior maintenance and training the staff how to cook breakfast properly (and offer local options) the villas could be really good. The private pool and compound really were hugely appreciated.

Well positioned private spacious accommodation. Quiet and serene but only footsteps to the beach for those amazing sunsets. You have friendly staff and locals always there with a friendly smile and at the ready with any questions you may have. The pool is amazing and the whole Villa is second to none on the island. I love this place.

Couple on honeymoon Gili Air was one of favourite parts of trip. Staff friendly and welcoming they couldn’t do more for you during your stay. Fantastic breakfasts cooked in your kitchen area. Definitely have banana waffles ! Comfortable beds and air con perfect. Shower great. It was honeymoon and staff kindly decorated bed on arrival. Villa area was really peaceful and nice in the morning and evening to chill. Perfectly located couple of minutes from beach with great sunset view. Pool nice temperature. They give you free bicclyles to get round island during stay with night lamps which are very needed. Not too much opportunity to use location for sun bathing but beach is right on door step and for a drink at a bar you can have it most of day. Gili Air one of best parts of trip and villa samalama contributed to that.
