Fantastic "getaway" place. The host was awesome. Huts are fun and breakfast was delicious. BEST sourdough bread I have ever had.

The beautiful Irish countryside has so much to offer. When this is combined with the love for nature that the host Mary shares with you and staying in one of the shepherds huts all conditions for a perfect stay are there. Guidance to nice walks and places to see are part of the warm welcoming to Blackstairs Shepherds Hut. We enjoyed the quietness, a walk along the river Barrow and having dinner in the nearby town Borris.

We went here part way through our trip in Ireland and it was the perfect place for an authentic experience off the tourist track. Highly recommended for those interested in eco tourism, hospitality and a unique experience. Truly amazing!!!

Die Unterkunft war sehr ruhig und naturnah. Die Vermieter sind sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit und immer für tolle Gespräche zu haben. Das ganze Grundstück ist beeindruckend in Größe und Artenreichtum. Zum Frühstück gab es selbst gebackenes Brot und selbstgemachte Marmelade sowie auch weitere Dinge. Toller Aufenthalt !

It is a stunning property cared for by a kind and welcoming eco-conscious couple. It is peaceful and a balm to the soul. The continental breakfast included homemade bread and jam. Just delightful! It was a great first stop in Ireland.

If you have opportunity to stay here consider yourself very lucky. We loved everything, and breakfast spread was fantastic!

I really enjoyed my stay in the Blackstairs Shepard hut. The facilities in the main building were excellent and the hut was cosy and comfy with everything you'd need for a good night's sleep. Mary was full of helpful tips and suggestions for things to do in the area. The property was beautiful and the area was quiet and relaxing. Such an exclusive place to stay too as only 4 huts on the site. The location is great for exploring the local area and a couple of counties!

Evan and I had the most incredible time here! Such a truly beautiful property with the most welcoming and warm hosts. This is a true top spot for any outdoor/nature enthusiast; the grounds and gardens are spectacular, the huts and barn are lovely, and they truly do have sustainability, eco-friendliness, and environmental consciousness at the heart of the experience. The location is exceptionally well situated - it feels remote and cozy yet is near a wealth of little gems to explore. Between the river-way, the towns, the mountain trails, and the property itself, there is so much to do and see (and something for everyone). We would come back in a heartbeat. Didn’t stay long enough.

We stayed in one of four Shepherd Huts. Breakfast provided in the mornings. Mary makes homemade sourdough bread every morning, which left hubby in heaven! His fave bread. We've never had better. The bathroom and bathing facilities are great. There is a swing from a tree that we enjoyed as well as tramping through their woods, and maze, and trails. It's all so beautiful and peaceful❤️ We'd love to come and stay longer than two nights. It was the tranquility we needed. Robert and Mary work really hard, and are earth friendly in every way. Piper, their rescue cat is a sweetheart, too!❤️
