Hotels having major renovations. We had to phone which we asked for on the first day and never got. Water completely stopped working at 10:30pm. Then when it came back on in the morning it was extremely hot. And food was not good.

Property location is good. Everything else including guest service, rooms, amenities (not working), management, food were horrible. I will never recommend this to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Overall, we'd recommend booking it for the price. Things we liked: - Many restaurant options. "BLoved" was especially good, and it was fun having a Hibachi option on site. Our favorite was the jerk chicken served daily at the grill hut. - Beautiful spacious, beach areas, especially the island beach. That's a special place! - Snorkeling around the large island rocks was great! We saw many types of fish. It was easy and safe. We brought our own gear. - They offered many entertainment options throughout the day and a special event each night. - The buffet offered themed meals each day and always had some native dishes, which we enjoyed trying. - The staff was wonderful. Very kind and helpful. They provided great service. Suggestions: - Need to update rooms. Thankfully the AC worked well in the room. But, the the whole complex is dated. (They are remodeling some buildings now.) - The seagrass (growing underwater around the beach area) needs to be vacuumed out.

I didn't like that the towel area closes when you need towel for your fun dsy off property and pool their not open

The beach was nice, the property is in need of a major renovation. Not only is it outdated, many things are broken/not functioning. The other negative is the cats, begging for food while you eat. The place has a lot of potential.

I like this place, my husband and I have visited several times when it was the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. I didn’t even realize that the Catalonia was the same place until I had already reserved and paid for it. Also noticed after the 24hr. Cancellation period. but I already see that the new management is not going to maintain the adult comfort that has always been.This property has beautiful potentials and maybe they could consider older adults 21 years old and up or at least adults only, the mood of a resort can depend on this, just too many children and babies at this particular time. Nor have I ever seen such an extreme scouting from the excursion department walking around approaching the guest, very noticeable, but they were very welcoming, contrary to the lady who I would guess is their manager, who followed them around at times, she is not welcoming, no manners, rude and didn’t greet just staring at you looking mean while the reps spoke to the guests, but she showed very poor professionalism and no people skills at all. Kindness and hospitality is very important in order to draw the interest of civilized people.

We stayed last week and our trip was absolutely amazing! The food, the staff...highly impressed. I am looking forward to staying again in the future and looking forward to the new renovations!

The staff was friendly and kind. I enjoyed reading that they had a wide variety of food, and the food was the icing on the cake. The jerk chicken was amazing; however, they do not serve it with the barbeque sauce that is authentic to Jamaican jerk. Overall, I loved my room, and I know once the renovation is completed, it will be even more amazing.

Catalonia is awesome and kids friendly. 👏

Staff was mean and rude . Adult area closed , water in hallway floor for days , trash in corner for days , could not make reservation for dinner , had to eat only buffet after I spent all this money . Housekeeping made one bed one day and not both . I had to go get clean linen . Next day house keeping made both beds and did not leave linen . Cats all over the property, one morning during breakfast a cat brought a bird to Where we were eating and killed it dead . Staff just watched. Outdoor table in smoking area broke while we were sitting there .

This hotel is very clean and some staff were friendly. The wifi is the worst i have ever seen at a hotel. Whether on the beach or in your hotel room, the connection is bad. The food was not 100% jamaican cusine. The buffet didnt have much variety for breakfast or lunch. Too many flies landing on the buffet food made it unappatizing. The restaurants were similar, some were good some not so much. The beach is not the best as it is mostly shallow water and reefs everywhere that you cannot step on for environmental reasons. The pool was cool and relaxing though. Aslo, you could bareley hear the music playing! The managers kept fighting their staff on keeping music low and not taking proper feedback from guests. This hotel is for people who like quiet and simple experience not for people who like a more lively atmosphere. It was ok overall but not the greatest. Wont be going back.

very peaceful and exciting

I stayed here in January and my stay was incredible I had no complaints, however this time around half the resort was closed, my key card didn't work MULTIPLE times leaving me to have to go back and forth to my room 3 times where it still did not work and we had to wait 2 hours to have the door fixed(2 days later it stopped working again). On the plus side, the bartenders, and staff in the restaurant were all very friendly, the drinks and food were great and its very close to the airport which is bonus. It's an affordable resort but unfortunately I wouldn't stay again which is sad because just a couple months ago we had such a great time.

Check-in was 3:00 we got our room at 6:00. A/C did not cool. Gift shop was not open due to inventory

2/10 do NOT recommend. This was the worst stay ever at ANY of our vacations in any part of the world! Stray cats all around poolside, in restaurants having cat fights literally everywhere this is their resort! Hardly no staff will smile at you be friendly or nothing. I brought $300 in small bills just for tipping and after 4 days I left with $280. Rude and not worthy. For my 1st 2 days I had to have an escort anytime me and my children wanted to go to our room because upon check in our keys didn’t work and had to wait 2 days for it to be fixed and they stated they didn’t have any extra rooms. Worst experience ever do not stay here if you like nice things but if your looking for a cheap motel type stay this is your place!

The bartenders were cool. The food was alright. But I didn’t like I didn’t have no Internet service and both of the TVs in the room couldn’t get any channels.
