Our stay at The Kinan Retreat@Fulidhoo Island was an excellent. We stayed here for 2days out of out 5days vacation in Maldives, the hospitality of all the people in the Kinan Retreat was excellent.
This place offers a good views of the ocean towards the south of the Fulidhoo Island and sound from the Indian Ocean were splendid! We spotted lots of sting rays, fish and a few baby sharks with the snorkelling gear. The deck in front of the hotel is the evening spot for the Sting Rays one can spot them very easily after 6:30PM.
Beyond the relaxing atmosphere of this place and the island, the next best part was the fantastic food and warm welcome from the staff. All the people at the Kinan Retreat made sure we had a great stay and catered for all our needs from the moment we deboarded the ferry. The staff was very attentive, professional and friendly.
Again, we had a wonderful stay at the Kinan Retreat! :)
We had a wonderful time at Kinan! The building seems brand new, and the rooms are very comfortable and attractive. We are breakfast here all five mornings we stayed on the island, and loved the Maldivan tuna coconut dish with roshi they served (we tried a bunch of different versions of this dish and Kinan’s was our favorite). They did a dinner on the beach our first night, which was beautiful, and a beach bbq on the last night (I think they do it every Friday) where we got to taste Maldivan fish curry, yum. The staff are friendly and super helpful. Maldivans are generally friendly but more reserved/shy, but once we got to know people they’d smile whenever we saw them, talk and joke with us. On our last night the staff surprised us by putting a heart in flowers on our bed to celebrate our honeymoon. It was gorgeous and so sweet.
The excursions were really fun—we snorkeled with nurse sharks and toured sandbars. My husband did a dive with the scuba company that’s next door to the hotel (fulidhoo dives I think) and getting to know the guides and boat captains was one of the best parts of our trip. We were expecting to be able to do a trip to see whale sharks, but at least as of October they wouldn’t run a boat snorkel trip without at least 8 people going, and there were never enough other guests to do it, so don’t go expecting to be able to see whale sharks. Women should also cover up more than at resorts, just out of respect for the community. Long shorts and a t-shirt work.
