Man muss einmal im Leben nach Svalbard reisen und im Funken Lodge übernachten. Tolles Essen im Funktionærmessen Restaurant. Am besten Anfang März, wenn noch Schnee liegt und die Sonne zurück kommt.

The Funken Lodge has to be one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. From the location to the staff in all areas of the hotel you couldn't fault it. The hotel was execptionally clean, the public areas and the rooms alike. There were plenty of quiet areas if you didn't want to sit in the main bar area, not that it was ever rowdy. The food in the resturant was exceptional. As was the breakfast which was included in our stay. The bar food and cocktails were also very good. The view from the resturant down to the town and fjord was beautiful. The walk into town was about a 1km and we did it every day with no problem. It is actually well lit. The sauna was a lovely way to wind down after a days exploring. We would definitely stay here again. From start to finish it was and incredible stay.

Værelset var mindre imponerende end forventet og havde en mærkelig lyd fra radiatoren de første par dage. Morgenmaden var fin, men ikke exceptionel, da vi ofte oplevede meget tørt brød, og kold retter, der skulle have været varme. Personalet var meget imødekommende og hjælpsomme, og saunaen var superfin. Vi fik også god aftensmad i restauranten. Det var dog svært at slappe af på hotellets fællesområder, da andre gæster konstant havde videoer, samtaler på højtaler eller andre lyde kørende på deres telefoner. Det ville være rart, hvis personalet ville værne mere om rolige omgivelser og bede gæster tage hensyn til hinanden.

Put this Hotel anywhere in the world and you'd be delighted, then you look out of the window and realise you're at the top of the world. Ice, snow, darkness, i still can't believe i was there. The rooms are large and well equipped, the breakfast is fabulous and staff so helpful. Great Cocktails in the beautiful bar and lounge. I'd love to keep this place a secret but that just wouldn't be fair. Go, go now.

Tolle Unterkunft, lässt am Ende der Welt fast keine Wünsche offen. Sehr gemütlich:)

Hotel was fabulous, room was also fabulous, we had a junior suite, had an amazing view. Staff were so pleasant and helpful, would absolutely stay again and recommend this hotel.

Flott hotell

The staff were incredible in all areas; warm, helpful, and insightful. I will quite likely return to the hotel in the Summer. All facilities were immaculate and the restaurant was fantastic.

Lovely property, with well decorated spaces. The room was quite large, with a very comfortable bed and a good shower. Picture perfect views from windows. Staff really welcoming, and happy to offer advice for dining options / local insider knowledge. Very good breakfast.

Great Design , good taste, great food, great service, nice vibe

Funken Lodge is a cozy and tidy hotel with a nice service, gym, sauna with a good breakfast, restaurant and concierge services. The room was nice, a bit small, but quiet and very comfy with a very good bed, at least for me. The hotel is located a nice walk uphills from Longyearbyen centre, shops, museums, and other services. The Airport shuttle and many trip buses pick up you just in the front of Funken Lodge. Svalbard is a unique place with a very beautiful, very sensitive environment, which should be respected and preserved with it's beautiful plants and animals. Before you travel, check the environmental programs of hotels and trips, notice that there are limited areas where you may walk independently due to polar bears especially in spring, that your travel & health care insurances are ok, and notice that Oslo Airport when you have to pick up your checked in luggage and recheck-in to Norwegian domestic flights? There is an additional security check at Oslo Airport when coming from non-Schengen area to Schengen transfer flights area, so reserve some additional time if you have connection flights in Oslo. Even in the summer time, take warm and weather-proof clothes with you, especially if you go to sea trips. The climate change unfortunately changes especially these areas, so think about the environment & compensate CO2 emissions when you travel. Despite the Svalbard's mining history, let's keep the last wild frontiers on the Earth as untouched as possible.

Beautiful boutique hotel with excellent breakfast! Loved our stay. One ask would be having lotion in the bathrooms since it is so dry.

Had a great stay here. The staff were very nice as were the rooms. The restaurant is excellent.

High class hotel with great staff, good breakfast and comfortable bed. Stayed in standard room which is small but very well decorated and in top condition. Mini bar and nice shower. Restaurant is fine dining and great food and service.
