We have stayed at The Powfoot Hotel as a stopover on the way to our final destination in Scotland. It is an absolute gem. Of course there are newer and plusher hotels but this place takes some beating for its idyllic location, courteous and professional service, cleanliness, comfort and good value restaurant. Well done all of you at The Plowfoot Hotel, you have put this place firmly on the map for us.

Powfoot Hotel is a comfortable hotel in a lovely position on the estuary. It is a touch tired in places, thread bare carpet on the main staircase, cracked sinks and rattly doors, but staff were attentive and the food in the restaurant was very nice indeed. The additional balcony with outside furniture for rooms 1-4 was a really nice bonus that I don't remember being advertised and had great views out over the bay and golf course. Great for a brief stop over on the way to Scotland.

Had a lovely stay here. The food was very good indeed and the staff were nice and friendly. Lovely view across the Solway Firth too.

The food options, service and location were great for us. Car needed as very limited public transport available. The bed was too firm, not very comfortable but overall everything else made up for it.

Touring southern Scotland, this location made a lot of geographical sense . I’d rate this a 3 star location. A bit remote ( not in a bad way) - it’s right on the firth of Solway and you can walk right out onto the mudflats . The hotel may be a bit aged but our room, restaurant experience and staff were all quite acceptable. Good location if you prefer being out of town and on the firth

One of the best places we stayed on our trip. Excellent location and great views. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond in making our staff very enjoyable

A really good place to stay for tranquility peace and quiet

Total Gem! Beautiful views, amazing food….rooms are fresh, clean and tastefully decorated. The hotel sits overlooking the sea and the beautiful Golf course which enhances the tranquility. The restaurant is the real winner here and a must visit for residents or non residents. I have been back twice in the last two weeks!!.

This is our third stay at this hotel and each time the service and experience has been excellent. The food in the restaurant was top class - couldn’t fault it. The salmon dish was wonderful. Highly recommended.

Beautiful views over the estuary including a lovely sunset. The food in the restaurant was super. The staff were friendly and the room was spacious.

Stayed for 2 nights. A wee gem. Nice place, lovely staff with great service. Food is excellent, cannot fault it. Romms are clean and the bed was comfy. 10/10. Highly recommend.
