We had an amazing three night stay at Cathkun Cottage and that was undoubtedly due to Roger’s incredible warmth, hospitality and general helpfulness throughout. The setting is so peaceful, the accommodation clean and comfortable and the breakfast service excellent ! Roger was able to produce some amazing plant based breakfasts when he learnt we were vegan, and there was a wonderful atmosphere getting to know the other guests. You are made to feel so welcome that it is truly a home from home. We’ll be back !

Cathkin Cottage was charming and cosy offering a homely feel to the traveller. Roger is a friendly host who always tries to keep you comfortable and even arranged for an emergency light through the loadshedding. It was a pleasant experience to have someone check on your meal preferences a day in advance and make arrangements for earlier than usual breakfast trips.

Hübsches kleines Cottage mit 5 Zimmern. Wir hatten Zimmer 1 direkt am Pool. Es war sehr schön da. Wir konnten BBQ machen. Frühstück leider erst ab 8, was für Wanderer etwas spät ist. Schöner Gemeinschaftsraum mit Kamin. Hunde und Katzen auf dem Gelände, sehr niedlich, aber nix für Leute mit Allergie.

What a great stay! We loved our location, we loved our accommodations, and we loved the owner! She went way out of her way to make us comfortable. We had full access to the entire house including the kitchen, which one day we just cut up cheese, and crackers, sat by the pool and relaxed. Lots of things to do nearby. She also gave some great recommendations of things to see and places to go.

A back room was offered with no view and adjacent to the road. Consequently, the photos and description completely misrepresented the reality of the room we were allocated. As this was unaceptable we did not stay there and found alternative accomodation. We might have stayed if we had been given a front room with a view over the gardens.

Kleines, gemütliches und sehr liebevoll eingerichtetes Cottage. Geschmackvoll eingerichtetes nicht allzu großes Zimmer mit eigener Terrasse und Blick in einem wunderschönen Garten. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen im Bereich des Monks Cowl. Sehr nette Gastgeberin. Haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt .

Great weather most of the time which makes a big difference in this area. Accommodation was comfortable and clean with excellent service and friendly advice. The room is well equipped with tea/coffee facilities, en-suite bathroom with shower and a large comfortable bed. No television but really, when you come to this area, do you really need one? Of course not! Wifi available but a bit slow. All in all, a reasonably priced B&B which I would highly recommend.
