Hotel never brought towels or blankets we asked for and we asked several times. Hotel staff harassed us about our service dogs and made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Mario told us it was standard practice to approach guests with service dogs and tell them that if their dogs cause damage, they will be charged for it. Our service dogs are better trained and better bread than Mario, hotel staff that has neither manners nor respect for guests with disabilities.

We always enjoy our stay at the Best Western in Carpinteria. The grounds are lovely and the rooms nice. Very convenient location too.

The room with 2 queen beds is very small, much smaller than the norm for standard rooms in other hotels. I asked them to clean my room well in advance but they did not do it. I had to ask on the second day and they had an excuse that there was no one to clean. But I saw the maids cleaning other rooms. Be aware that you must share a balcony with your next door neighbor as there is no dividing wall. It’s poorly designed from that aspect. So no privacy. Courtyard is not really accessible as there are courtyard rooms that have patio chairs and tables in front of them, so it’s a bit deceiving the hotel description.

Property needs better cleaning. Carpets were dirty and poorly vacuumed. Bathtub didn’t drain well. The property is showing its age.

My wife’s blow dryer caused the electric to go out in our room as well as the other two rooms we rented while trying to get ready for a wedding that we needed to catch a bus to venue. It took 45 minutes to get the power back on and the front staff was very rude and wouldn’t allow us to move rooms so we could get ready for the wedding unless charged us for the move. It makes no sense how a blow dryer without anything else on cause a whole row of rooms to be workout fire.

Fantastic location for all things Santa Barbara or Carpinteria. Directly off the 101.
Pros:
Beautiful hotel. The exterior is so impressive!
Cozy beads. Soft pillows.
Gorgeous courtyard for relaxing.
Restaurant on site. (No room service though)
Cons:
Small pool
No free breakfast
Right on the 101, so it’s loud in the rooms.
I would absolutely stay again.
