Our stay at the Doubletree Hilton was unpleasant to say the least. The staff was okay nothing to rave about. The room was run down… for crying out loud the shower sliding door broke on my 2 year old son and I while I was bathing him and had my slip and fall. Luckily I was able to protect and hold my son as I hit my head on the shower wall! I reported it to the staff and all they said was “oh no let me get that checked out” and then on top of that our King bed made so much noise and squeaks, all of the lamps were torn, stained carpets and all in all just a real bad time. I would NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE AT ALL. The property rooms need some major updates and for incidents like I had I would expect a manager to follow up at least.

Not much to do in the area

Excellent staff and very good environment.

This hotel is just older and the rooms and common areas need updating. It was just a bit rough. Like it was clear that someone had put a hole in the bathroom wall and it was just patched over, and caulking was visible around the sink and bathtub. There was no "Seating area" like there is in more modern hotel rooms. My room did, however, have excellent dresser space, which I find lacking in some properties AND there was plenty of hot water in the shower. Staff at the front desk was friendly. It's pretty clear that there are a lot of transient people walking through the area, and I did not feel safe running anywhere near the hotel. The local Rail Trail is home to a lot of encampments, so I went running at Mission Beach, which was just 10 minutes away. If you're going to stay here, rent a car and only plan to sleep in the room.

It was great

This hotel is pretty grungy. It’s old and beat up and it definitely shows. The carpets were stained and dirty, the bathroom tiles had big chips, and the furniture was beat up. When you walk into the lobby it smells nice because they are pumping it with fragrance but as soon as we got off the elevator the hallways smelled like dirty feet/food. The condition truly made it feel like a motel and not the caliber of a Hilton/Doubletree.

Great location for anyone interested in exploring the San Diego area. Easy access to the freeways. Close to major shopping and dining opportunities.

I don’t like how small the parking garage is

Water pressure was terrible and the bathroom fan kept making a LOUD noise. Also had the room right outside the elevator, and you can hear it every time it runs.

Great room and then after falling asleep a housekeeper started vacuming the room next door which woke us up.
