Holiday Inn SAN MARCOS-CONVENTION CTR AREA, an IHG Hotel

Very clean and cozy

Staff were incredibly impressed

I was put in room 303. The room was clean and in decent condition. It was the second room from very near by Interstate 35. Looking out the window you are looking at the highway. The road noise was constant all night. It was not like a sound machine. Sirens and big trucks woke me up multiple times. The toilet also ran all night. I tried to heat up water to make tea in the Keurig in the morning and the water turned out yellow and had quite a bit of particulate in the bottom of the cup. I was only planning to stay one night. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and courteous. It is a safe and decent hotel. They just have some details to work out. The noise was a deal breaker for me. I wouldn’t stay that close to the highway again.

We were greeted with barely a grunt, the receptionist was more interested in her phone than guests.

I didn’t like having a made to order breakfast. The food was cold (especially the potatoes)! I would have preferred getting my own food from a food bar. Would have preferred yogurt.

This Holiday Inn is very nice and appealing. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The reason I am giving the one star review is reflected in poor customer service regarding a refund on a $50 deposit that was collected when I checked in. I was told I had to be charged the $50 and would be refunded upon check out if no damage to the room. I do not see on Expedia booking page that I should expect to pay a $50 deposit. I had no pets, we are non smokers and we stayed one night and left the room in perfect condition. It has been 5 days since we left and still no credit issued. I have called twice and was told that it could take 2 weeks to recieve a refund. This is unacceptable. I will not stay at this or any Holiday Inn again in the future if this is the level of customer service one can expect. Customers have much more important things to do than to keep checking their credit card for a refund.

One of two elevators out of order made for crowded elevator and wait times. Toilet seemed to have water running all the time.

I checked out Saturday because the hotel shut the water off while I was taking a shower getting ready for my nieces graduation, I missed her walking because I had to get out dry off still lathered up and go down the road to the hotel next door where friends were staying so that I could finish showering but by then the ceremony was over. Never again will I be staying at a Hilton they also have very dirty couches in the rooms

There was very little parking except in the very back parking lot, which as a female traveling alone was very concerning. The back parking lot had very little light and at least three or four spaces closer to the building had construction materials blocking them. The rooms were very dated with the tubs had dirty drains and general damage. None of the outlets or lamps had any USB capabilities and one of the elevators was broken causing delays. My TV remote did not work and the replacement remote would not work for the power button. The front desk gentleman that checked me in was wonderful. The front desk person who checked me out was a young lady was less than personable.

Great stay, friendly staff

We checked in for parents weekend on October 11th, 20 minutes later found a couple of lovely bed bugs on the pillow and mattress , the staff came in took off the everything off the bed and brought the fogger or the spray machine , went down the from desk were very apologetic and promised we get our refund in 10 days, we left and went to Austin because all the hotels in San Marcos were sold out including the Holiday inn or Bugs Inn , 6 weeks later and the manager have not issue any refund. Holiday Inn should pull their name off this property.

The Hotel changed my room to a one king bed and my reservation was for 2 queens bed, family of 4! i needed to sleep in the floor because there was no extra bed!
