The whole property is what I called "Olde English" themed. Each room is named after an English poet or author. I loved the 1st floor lobby. There was a wood-burning fireplace, games, puzzles and lots of room to congregate. The complementary breakfast was very nice. I don't know where the pastries came from, but they were awesome. I would definitely return. The only shortcoming (to me) was that there was no mini-fridge in the room and I had a cooler of food. I availed myself of the ice machine at the end of the hall to keep everything cold.

Incredibly pretentious. Liberally flaunts a 4 star rating; it’s a 2 star quality stay. The low star reviews are fairly accurate. Don’t bother with a regular room, only the themed rooms are worth the stay. Walls are thin, towels poor quality, floors dirty, and it feels tired. Old character theme shouldn’t equal old and dirty amenities. The check in staff made their distaste for 3rd party reservations known upon arrival. This is also a “hook up” place for the more affluent in the surrounding area; as I said, thin walls. While we were entertained by our neighboring rooms’s apparent drama; I wouldn’t label it romantic or private. Parking is sparse; even with a parking garage. If you use the parking garage, the elevator doesn’t reach the bottom floor; keep in mind if you have special needs or heavy luggage.

We enjoyed our night! Met some family for drinks in the lovely pub, then later that evening went down to Basso for dinner at the bar. Everything was perfect! All service at both bars was hospitable...in fact, every employee we encountered was just great! Our food was perfect at Basso. The lobby with the blazing fire was very much appreciated. Highly recommend!

The breakfast this stay was good, but not as great as on previous stays. The hotel has wonderful artwork all over and the rooms are all named for authors. Overall, a good stay but the HVAC in the John Bunyan room sounded like a motor boat. During our stay two people were manning the front desk, but one woman was running the entire bar serving food, as well as drinks by herself.

There was minimal parking space and the lady behind the desk (who I later found out was the manager) just stared at me when I asked her where I could park. I even asked if she could just point me somewhere to find a parking lot elsewhere and she refused to answer. I caught one of the chefs walking out and he actually helped me find parking. Our room was freezing and they had to trip the breaker to even get the heat to kick on. Then the water never got Luke warm in the shower. The Second Lady I spoke with at checkout was amazing and the hotel is very nice. Biggest concern was the customer service at check in.

Very good location. Better breakfast than your average hotel. Love the decor. Parking was difficult on a Saturday night. Needs some deep cleaning. I would stay again.

The only neg was the parking situation. When we arrived for check in , it was fine. We went off property to eat supper but we came back for the night, my husband dropped me off at the front door while he looked for a spot to park. It seemed like he was gone for ever and whe n he finally arrived back he said he ended up parking in their parking garage. He said it was pitch black , no lights at all. To me that’s a big safety concern. When I mentioned it at the front desk, he said they ve been trying to get an electrician. Other than that, a great stay, including the breakfast

The bed was comfy and the room seemed clean but there’s a couple things I didn’t like. One there wasn’t a microwave or refrigerator in the room. You would figure paying that much for one night those things would be in there. Two check out time is at 11 and the housekeeper came into my room at ten while we were still in there.
