The Drake was great! The employees were all super friendly and the facility was nice. We were there from out of town for an appointment at Lurie Children’s Hospital and it was a great location. Near Watertower Place and obviously all the shopping on Michigan Ave. there were gluten free muffin options in the coffee shop which was great for my son and I. We would definitely go back!

Classic hotel with great staff

The "Grand Old Dame" should perhaps just be called the "Old Dame" now. It still has the wonderful location on the Mag Mile, but it just seems tired and out of sorts. Starting with the room, which was old but without the charm one would hope. Our toilet hardly worked taking three flushes to accomplish anything worthwhile and the staff seemed if the holidays and finally gotten the better of them; tired and seemingly without joy. Many years ago we would love to stop at the iconic Coq d' Or for a drink, but this Chicago stay we didn't have the courage to stop in worrying that our good memories would be tainted as well. There are much better choices in the city for a stay.

Older room but very clean and comfortable!

It's an older hotel but that's the charm. We enjoyed our stay.

The Drake has an illustrious history, but it definitely has not kept up with the times and unfortunately it is not the hotel it once was. The room was clean enough, but the furnishings and amenities were simply worn and outdated. The biggest complaint I had was with the heat/AC just did not work properly. My stay was in December and the room felt stuffy, so I turned the AC on thru the room thermostat, not only did it not cool the room, it was unacceptably loud. When I spoke to the front desk to ask if I could change rooms, they said the hotel ventilation system is old and changing rooms probably would not make a difference, but they would send someone up to look at the vent and crack open the window (which we could not do ourselves). Upon returning to the room, we turned on the AC and it did seem to be a little quieter. However, after about 1/2 hour, it was as loud as it was before and now the room was getting cold because the window was open in December in Chicago. So basically we had no room temperature control for 3 days. Really not acceptable for any hotel room, let alone The Drake. Lastly, there were strange, unpleasant odors throughout the hotel, perhaps due to the poor ventilation system.

The staff was very accommodating. The location is excellent for shopping and dining. The rooms are spacious and not very expensive but the entire hotel is in need of a renovation
