We stayed here for our wedding night after our local wedding. I've stayed at a lot of the hotels downtown Portland after a fun night out and my experience at the Royal Sonesta was one of the absolute best. We booked a king suite, the price was very reasonable, the decor was very fun and unique and the room was spacious. We hadn't mentioned that it was our wedding night but the concierge asked as we were heading out to our reception. When we returned we found a lovely note and a bottle of champagne in our room. It was truly a magical experience and we might have to make a tradition of it.

I loved the theme of the hotel and the staff was very friendly and inviting. I think the bathrooms could use an update. The floor was also creaky and you can tell the hotel is getting old. There is parking that you can find on spot hero off of alder street that I paid $24 for for both days AND in and out privileges. I definitely recommend that over the hotel valet. The destination charge was not warranted as the snack and drink choices they give you are very slim and they also did away with the happy hour.

We booked a king suite, the price was very reasonable, the decor was very fun and unique and the room was spacious. What an oasis this hotel was for our long weekend in Portland. In a world of beige and bland hotel rooms, The Royal Sonesta was a breath of fresh air. On paper nothing in the rooms should match, but somehow it all just works, and is a feast for your eyes. Comfortable beds, the most amazing staff (thank you Owen! ♥️) , who bend over backwards to be helpful, friendly and accommodating. Seriously, they have literally found the very best people!! We may need to just move in! Ha!

It was a nice hotel and my family enjoyed the cool decor and the folks working there who made it fun. Was frustrated to not get my VIP perk for parking though. Parking was $120 for two nights.

We have stayed here many times. We always get the larger Suite that is 505 ft.². Has a nice sitting area and sliding doors to the large bed. The restaurant downstairs is still not open except on the weekends. Hopefully, when the occupancy rate increases This spring, the restaurant will have the traffic to open again.
The breakfast in the morning downstairs is sometimes going on very early in the morning and needs to be replenished more often. The area downtown in Portland is cleaning up and I anticipate it will be backed with old self soon.

The hotel had a lot of personality and we loved the eclectic decor. However there needs to be an important with upkeep and reception. Upon arrival there was only one person at the reception and he was on the phone with either a manager or a customer talking loudly, I had to wait for about 5-8 minutes before he hung up to check me in. I've stayed at plenty of 4.5-5 star hotels before and this is not the quality of service I expected.
I have also noticed that they are not really doing a good job upkeeping with the hotel, there was a rather large unsightly splatter on one of the lobby windows that was there from when we first checked in and still there when we left.

Disappointed to discover that you're owned by Hilton. I like Sonesta, but I've had poor experiences with Hilton often enough I won't stay there again.

We had a wonderful time. Everything is very well designed. Lots of fun and funky things to see around every corner. We loved it. Valet parking was nice. Le petit déjeuner was très bon. We enjoyed a very nice complementary room upgrade on a Wednesday night. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is very close to dining and shopping.

This is our second visit to This wonderful hotel. It is classic- historical, friendly staff- very comfortable and absolutely lovely in every way! We had such a peaceful and nice stay!
