Thunderbird Inn

Great Hotel/Motel for the price.

I wanted to like the Thunderbird Inn, but I couldn't as there are so many issues......and most of them stem from it trying to be 'hip' rather than good! And $20 to park in what is just a courtyard of a motel is madness. 1. Blinds with no curtains, so the room is far too bright at night as they don't keep the light out. 2. Five crazy 'cushions' rather than proper pillows. 3. Two cans of strange brand cola provided instead of water. 4. Two bright coloured biscuits from a sponsor (biscuits shouldn't be blue)! 5. Tow fancy chairs that are uncomfortable and too low to use at the desk / counter. 6. Infuriating auto light in the bathroom that came on any time I went near it. On top of this, my Aircon unit was spewing out small black particles all over my coffee making area (this should be investigated immediately). The other issue is that the place is right next to a very busy road and just after a set of traffic lights..... Heavy vehicles and buses pull away from here and the noise is extremely loud. I slept okay as I was tired, but light sleepers won't. Unfortunately, just not good enough.

Clean and friendly staff

This property is grimy. But staff are nice and helpful. I feel like this whole place needs a lemony power wash. Breakfast is sugary treats and coffee and juice. The doughnuts were delish.

Loved staying here! Our shower had hair in it, otherwise the inn was spotless and everyone was wonderful. Thank you for having us. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

Our family of 4 loved our one night stay at the Thunderbird Inn, what a cool property! The motel reminded me of motels along old Route 66 that we use to stay in when we were kids, and our kids loved the dougnuts and moon pies. Great location to historic Savannah sites and River street (12 min walk) If you need a room in Savannah stay at the Thunderbird, it's a walk down memory lane.

It was a cute place. Older and could use some updates but it definitely had charm and I felt safe. I have no complaints other than the fridge didn’t work. But I wasn’t stressed about that. And they are pet friendly!

It’s a silly, fun place. Staff keeps it going.

Loved this little corner gem. Quick to visit the greatest restaurants and shops and even River St. was very close. I enjoyed The moon pies, the neon lights, and the classicness. The heater didn’t work and it was 35 degrees so I hope they look into room 111! Loved that they had keychains with the room numbers! I got Mine! Thanks Thunderbird!

Wonderful stay. Different type of hotel.

This is my favorite Savannah motel! Super cute theme, rooms are always very clean and beds are comfy. There is some noise from traffic but it’s not that bad. $20 a night for parking but that’s VERY reasonable! The lot also has an EV charger if you need one. Donuts in the morning are fantastic. My only complaint this trip was that there was an ashtray outside my room (room 119) and the smoke smell snuck in through the door when people were out there, but if they got rid of that smoking area and moved it away from the rooms, it would have been perfect! I will definitely be back!

The only negative was the shower head It was truly awful and the water temp could be warmer Also say coffee and doughnuts for breakfast not free breakfast

Super fun stay. Classic retro motel. Amazing donuts and coffee for breakfast. The rooms were super nice. Super safe location.

Exactly as advertised. It's an older building, but well maintained. The staff was always beyond cheery and helpful. Popcorn every afternoon and donuts every morning (if you can handle that many donuts). Easily walkable to the market, river front, tour buses, museums, and honestly the entire historic district if you bring your walking shoes.

Great location within easy walking distance to the waterfront, shops, restaurants, and beautiful historic district homes and squares. Perfect for a pet and budget friendly one or two night stay in Savannah. The complimentary donuts for breakfast were amazing!!!

A comfortable, charming little motel with late 50s/early 60s theming that drew us in. I saw very few of these sorts left growing up, but greatly appreciated this little throwback to the mid-century era of holiday making.

Two minor complanuts...Noisy bathroom fan that never seemed to shut off. Property is on a busy street, so a bit of traffic noise at times. Convenient location.

We stay in room 102 and 103. The sink in 102 was clogged. In the 103 the bathroom has losses tiles with mold and the room smell to humidity. In both rooms the A/C filter needs to be cleaned. They were completly full of dust. In general the hotel is clean, very friendly staff and very well situated.
