The car park entrance to the property is at the rear and when I first walked in I wasn't sure where to check in as there is no 'desk' as such or any clue as to where I should go, I saw some movement at the bar and went there where I was checked in by a very helpful chap (I assume he's the owner). He carried my bag to my room and after giving me some information left me to settle in. My first impression of the room was how cold it was - the radiator was stone cold and remained so until the following morning. It's situated under the window with floor length curtains so when the heating did come on it couldn't warm the room effectively. Thankfully there was a portable oil filled radiator that I used which took some of the chill off. I had an evening meal that I was unable to eat most of as it had an odd taste and fair play to the owner, he took the charge off the bill as they take a lot of pride in their food. The mattress on the bed had seen better days to be honest but I did manage to get a good nights sleep. Breakfast was great, good choice of cereals and the cooked breakfast was nice - my only comment is that cheap sausages were used which was a shame as the rest of the plate was delicious. Overall not a bad place by any means but could do with a few tweaks to improve customer experience, attention to detail like curtains, broken lamp shade, worn out mattresses.

Staff very welcoming , accommodating with my dogs needs for his supplement to be kept in fridge. We were given information of what to see in Barry Island. Overall lovely staff, nice room, would definitely recommend

Amazing gem hidden in the country. Very comfortable rooms, relaxing, fun atmosphere in restaurants and bar with delicious food. We weren’t traveling with children, but there were amazing play areas, indoor and outdoor for children.

Arrived and stood at the bar whilst 5 members of staff completely ignored us, even though it was obvious we were checking in. Collecting glasses and chatting was far more important. Internet was useless, neither option worked. The room was in the eaves and with two 6' + persons, not much fun

Very pleased with the palace, the food was good, the playing area kids was great my son enjoyed playing there meeting new friends 👏

Marvellous two night stay - hotel provided all that was necessary. One issue however was the very intermittent WiFi. Would definitely stay here again.

What a lovely family friendly hotel, food was lovely, and the breakfast in the morning was really nice too, staff were fab, room was spotless, will defo be returning

Loved it here! Beautiful, old pub. Spent 1 night, cosy room, comfy bed & pillows, good over-bath shower, lovely room, with the all imprtant kettle & teabags! Had dinner & pud (lovely) lovely pub gardens, loads of parking, right at the end of a lane, so quiet. Service was EXCELLENT! Spent all night talking to the lovely bar staff - (and they were genuinely lovely) and one of their regulars 'Aled' 😃 Finished the stay with a full cooked breakfast, again, service was excellent. If you want a nice, friendly, relaxed stay...this is the place ❤️

Great place to stay. All staff really friendly. Food excellent. Most nights although the Inn is a little isolated, it was full of diners. Lovely clean and comfy room.

A big room, a big comfortable bed, a big bathroom…in all ways perfect for our early morning drive to nearby Cardiff Airport!

Lovely staff great location. Faults no grab rail in the bath to use the shower was dangerous and slippery. Accident waiting to happen. After a night out in Cardiff with 30 degree temperatures came back to find the radiator next to our bed and the towel rail both on full heat. No sleep all night as we suffered in extreme heat. No discount or good will gesture offered or provided All of which ruined our experience unfortunately. Food prices very high but again couldn’t fault the staff but not the stay we anticipated.

Stayed here whilst going to see Lana Del Rey in Cardiff, check in was easy. Very friendly staff, excellent service and would recommend the full breakfast in the morning, rooms very spacious and clean.

Lovely room really clean with dual showr and a bath! warm welcome on early arrival. Great breakfast. Ample parking. View fron our window.was a field with sheep grazing. Would highly reccomend if you want a quiet retreat thats close to Barry Island and Cardiff.

Lovely, friendly pub in the Welsh countryside. The staff are great and were accommodating of our late arrival and early starts in terms of meals. The rooms are nice and looked after.

The three horseshoes was absolutely wonderful. Great breakfast, quiet area, very accommodating staff. It was my favorite place to stay on my one week drive around the UK.
